How To Live A Satisfying Life—Part 1: What Robs Us Of Satisfaction?

As a born again believer, I lived a relatively unsatisfied life for many years. But when I discovered how to have complete satisfaction within my relationship with God, it set me on a path that was SO completely satisfying. There is no life more extraordinary than a life completely surrendered to God.

What robs us of satisfaction?

Well, most easily stated it is our lack of complete surrender to God.

When our Christian life is lived by our own rules, we are, in practice, a secular humanist. “Secular humanism” is the belief that humanity is capable of morality and self-fulfillment—without God. “Man” is the “god” of secular humanism and self-determines life by his own reason and set of ethics. Surprisingly enough, many Christians espouse faith in God, but live by their own reason and are thus, practically unaffected by God’s presence.

In other words, faith in God has little impact upon everyday life choices.

Think about the way you do your job, the way you interact with others, the relationships you invest in, where you spend most of your money and time, etc. Now consider the foundation for each choice. Essentially, your basis is either: Your wisdom (Secular humanism) or God’s wisdom  (Biblical Christianity). [Bible Concepts] Because the religion of secular humanism rejects the notion that God exists; life has zero spiritual significance. Sadly, this eliminates the possibility that we were made for eternal greatness.

This belief crushes us. Why? Because God placed within us the knowledge of our greatness.

We were created in GOD’s image and for His glory. This knowledge is a constant reminder of our extraordinary purpose; and thus, secular humanism guts the most vital part of our being and we are relegated to living for far less than we were ever intended. We are like a child born with the speed of an Olympic runner who has chosen to work in a sweat-shop. A life of victory is never known. The greatest satisfaction we experience is limited to the basest of pleasures because we have never discovered Divine pleasure. That is, until…

we allow God to flip the switch and illuminate His glorious plan for our life!

God desires for us to achieve greatness and live with a supernatural purpose! God’s Word is full of promises:

And you He made alive, who WERE dead in trespasses and sins, in which you ONCE [before the new birth] walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ‭‭

Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭10‬ ‬‬

Ah, my friend, as you start this New Year, allow God to illuminate His grand plan for your life. Place Him in charge of your life and see what it means to live gloriously as “HIS workmanship!” I am excited to be on this unique and wonderful journey with you.

God has great plans far beyond your wildest imagination!
