Why You Can Be Excited About The New Year!

A very special event happened in 2022 which I have wanted to write about for several months. But God has His timing and—as always—His timing is perfect.

On August 17, 2022, at 10:00, I received a call from my son-in-law, Jake, that my daughter, Grace’s water had broken and she was dilated to 4 cm. I buzzed my office manager, Julee, to share the news. She immediately asked, “Why are you still sitting in your office? You need to get down to Arkansas right now! I’ll reschedule everything on your calendar.” Miraculously, I had just finished my last adoption for the week and had no more court scheduled—only client appointments. I was scheduled to be off anyway in anticipation of Claire’s birth but not until later in the week. I really had not expected to be able to get to be present for her birth.

But you know God…He always has bigger plans for us than we have for ourselves.

So I ran home, quickly packed, and drove three hours to the hospital. When I got there, the L & D nurse unexpectedly invited me back into the labor room to help with the birth. About three hours later baby Claire came bursting into the world and as her daddy caught her and laid on her mama’s belly, the three of us simultaneously burst into tears of joy!

Claire’s birth is a moment of joy I will never forget!

Fast forward to the end of December when I’m asking God to show me how to apply the New Year’s resolution He had given me [The Best Resolution For The New Year]. God reminded me of the excitement and joy of Claire’s birth. You see, when I was born again, my soul and spirit were made alive and able to communicate with God. It was the birth of a new and exciting life in Christ. Much like Claire’s birth enabled her to have meaningful communication with her parents, the new birth enabled me to have a relationship with the God who created me.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” ‭‭

John‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬-‭13

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” ‭‭

II Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬
When we are born into Christ’s family, the possibilities for our life are FAR greater than we can ask or imagine.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ASK or THINK, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” ‭‭

Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭‬‬

If you have been born into God’s family, you are a child of the most high King. You have all the benefits of His power, wisdom and love. The New Year is an opportunity to renew your mind and focus upon ALL God has given you as a member of HIS family. Jake and Grace have more love for Claire than she understands; God has even greater love for us. Jake and Grace have high hopes for Claire; God has a sure future and a rock-solid hope for His children. Jake and Grace are constantly communicating with Claire in order to teach her to communicate with them; God has given us the gifts of His Word and His Spirit to communicate with us. God longs to be closely connected to His children and give each of us joy unspeakable. As you enter the New Year, do it with anticipation and 100% commitment to discover ALL that God has planned for you.

God’s plan for your life is greater than you can imagine!!!
