The TRUTH should be the basis for every thought we think, word we say, and action we take. You don’t step off a high cliff because you know the TRUTH about the law of gravity—right? The violation of physical laws has unwanted consequences. But what is the most reliable source of truth for our moral guidance and spiritual health?
It should come as no surprise that unreliable sources of truth produce anxiety!
My friend, did you know that God has provided you a way to live free from uncertainty and fear?
God has given us truth that has been the same for thousands of years. In fact, Jesus said He IS the TRUTH. He promised to set us free! Free? From what? Well, from the bondage of sin, the slavery of lies, and the chains of darkness, and ultimately freedom from DEATH.
Jesus said:
“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6
When we receive the gift of salvation, our spirit is made ETERNALLY alive and we are able to communicate with God. Faith in Him gives us wisdom that is like a pair of night vision goggles. Faith enables us to see through the darkness and perceive GOD’s TRUTH. Without His presence, even the most brilliant human mind cannot comprehend His wisdom. But the simplest mind [who is born again] has the wisdom and power of God at their COMPLETE disposal!!!
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing [i.el, not born again], but to us who [are] saved it is the power of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.”
1 Corinthians 1:18, 25, 27-29
When we study God’s Word and live according to His truth, we live in freedom.
We know WHO we are.
We know WHERE we are going.
We know HOW to live.
Living in obedience to God’s truth, draws us deeply into the experience of His love. It is His “perfect love [that] casts out fear.” (1 John 4:18) God does not lie. (Numbers 23:19) He always speaks the truth—even when it is NOT what we want to hear. But truth is still truth.
God loves us so much He wants us to change our path so we do not want us to step off of that cliff. God’s Word offers eternal truth and the unshakeable hope of the Gospel. To know God, is to know the One Who lives in the future. We live in uncertain times, but God’s promises are true and when we make His Word the truth we live by—we live free from fear.

I have found the answer to fear. It’s called trust… trusting in the great love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of His love, I can fully trust that He will help me through any problem, or trial.I have been through the problems of a sudden death experience ( losing 7 years of memory), major heart operations, and breast cancer. But I have peace knowing that my Lord loves me and is taking care of me. I truly have a peace that passes all understanding because I know He holds me firmly in His loving hands.
Amen! Thank you for sharing! We have amazing peace in the storm we have when we allow the Prince of Peace to be the captain of our soul.
My life seems to be a constant struggle of fear!
Mountains and valleys are expected. But when I am in the valley again. It can seem so hopeless!
Your emails give me encouragement.
I know the Holy Spirit reveals things to me.
Just having patience and hope can be so difficult!

It’s so hard for me sometimes to allow myself to not have fear. I’ve had such a Ling relationship with the feeling of fear. Please pray for me Kimberly. That I’m reminded throughout my day to allow myself to let go of all the fears I face today. I enjoy your devotionals. I receive many different ones in my email, but yours is my favorite.
Lori, I WILL pray for you right now! We all struggle with fear, my friend! But God has answers about how to retrain our mind to be courageous. A while back, He gave me these thoughts. They may help you as well. Blessings, Kimberly
