Did You Know That You Have Something Worth Shouting About?

It’s fall, and college football is in full swing. My favorite college football game of the entire season is Army vs. Navy. The year Jon started at USMA, was the first year Army broke Navy’s nearly two decade winning streak. It was so exciting! I’m unashamedly a rabid Army Fan. 😀 I made it a point to attend the big game every year; and even once—in a blizzard! Every game, we shouted and cheered until our throats were hoarse and our faces were numb from smiling! Even remembering those games now, several years later, brings a smile to my face.

As I was meditating on the Psalms this morning, the excitement of belonging to God’s team made my countenance joyful!

What an immeasurable blessing that we can experience the presence of God—anytime, anywhere. He is the most exciting part of our life. I am grateful that He often reminds me that the things I love, remind me of Him. He is the giver of all good things. Without the breath He is giving me right now, I would not be able to sit here in a hotel in Jerusalem writing this devotional. Without eyes and a sound mind, you would not be reading this devotional either, right?? Isn’t God amazing to make every little detail work out just so we can do the basics like get out of the chair and open a window?

Ah, God has provided so much more goodness than we could ever ask or imagine!

God’s Word encourages us to rejoice in His goodness. What does this mean? It means, we are so excited about our relationship with Him, that it plasters a smile on our face that is hard to erase. We are victorious. We are loved. We are the benefactors of mercy that is from everlasting to everlasting. We have hope that does not fade away. We have a purpose that is so satisfying that we will never be empty.

Ah, my friend, charge your spiritual batteries on God’s Word. Allow your praise of Him to flow through your countenance so the whole world knows you are on His team. If you are struggling with praise, get into His Word. It is alive. If you have been made alive in Christ through the gift of salvation, it will stir you to praise. If your relationship with Him is suffering, ask Him how to fix it. He is a faithful friend. Then…

With the Psalmist, lift your praise Him!

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Psalms‬ ‭100‬:‭1‬-‭5‬
