God’s care for us is immeasurably greater than any human capability. The Psalmist captures God’s care in the most beautiful way in Psalms 139.
As you read the descriptions of how God cares, can you think of anyone else who so completely and attentively cares for you like God? Of God’s care, the Psalmist writes:
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You discern my thoughts from afar;
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether; and,
You enclose me and protect me from all sides, and lay your hand upon me.
The Psalmist goes on to describe the measure of God’s care:
“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.”
(Excerpts from Psalms 139)
Amazing! When I meditate upon how tenderly and thoroughly God loves me, it evokes praise and worship of Him for all He Is.
Do you feel God’s tender care so much that His presence is your greatest need?
Ah, my dear friend, God wants to fill you with the complete security of His presence! Spend time with Him and read His word. Sing praises to Him, meditate on Him, give Him the best of who you are! If you heart is scarred by imperfect love God will teach you to love again. He cares for you so much that He takes the time to know your thoughts, your ways, your words before you speak them. He knows your path before you choose it. He protects you in ways you don’t even know or fully appreciate. Yet—He does it anyway. God’s tender thoughts and love towards you are more innumerable than the sand on all the seashores.
No earthly love compares to God’s immeasurably tender care for you: Seek Him and know love.
