Will You Allow God To Quiet Your Soul?

My day will be full of peace if my first priority is to set my sights on God. I need to consciously make Him my primary focus. I need  to make Him my guide. I need to give Him 100% of all I have and all I am. Prayers from the Psalms draw me into His presence. I certainly need it after 8 hours of domination by my subconscious left to its own devices

God’s Word recalibrates my mind.

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭11‬-‭16‬,‭18‬

“Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

Let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.”

Psalms‬ ‭5‬:1-‭3‬,‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭‬‬

‭‭Not only does God’s Word reset my mind; but equally important, His loving presence quiets my soul. It’s much like when my children were young and had bad dreams; my presence, soft words, and tender caresses replaced their fear with peace. But, ah, how the benefits of God’s presence far exceed any human comfort! His presence is vital to our inner peace!

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

(Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬)

God desires for us each to experience His love quieting our soul!

If you are a Christian who is not experiencing the peaceful security of God’s presence, I can tell you from both personal experience and from God’s Word—there is only one reason.

“She [Jerusalem] listens to no voice; she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord; she does not draw near to her God.”

(Zephaniah‬ ‭3:2‬)

When we rebel, ignore, and run from God, who is the only one capable of giving us the perfect peace and love we desire, we are only hurting ourselves. But when we return to God and pursue Him as our greatest passion, in His loving care for us He does so much! He turns our sorrow into joy; He handles our oppressors; He heals our heart; He gives us HIS confidence; and He constantly amazes us by supplying all of our needs. (Zephaniah‬ ‭3:18-20‬)

God has been mercifully teaching this hard-charging, overly self-reliant girl how to channel her greatest energy into seeking Him. He is captivating me in the wonder of Who He is and what He does! Life guided by God is much better than charging around at full tilt, doing things my way; bouncing off walls, tripping over obstacles, and generally, expending a lot of energy just to always feel like I’m further behind, less peaceful, less loved, and less satisfied! [Sorry for the major run-on sentence ! 🙃] I can say with 100% certainty, when God is in the middle of everything I do, His presence becomes my irreplaceable desire!

God’s presence will give your life Divine purpose; and His love will quiet your soul.
