The Safety Of God’s Will; The Insanity Of Our Own Way

There is incomparable safety choosing to live in God’s presence. God’s presence is strongest when we live in His will. What does it mean to live in God’s will? Well, most simply it’s doing life HIS way (according to His Word) and living in HIS presence. After we’re born again, our soul and spirit are made alive in Christ. It’s impossible to live in God’s will without His gift of salvation. God’s “ways” are written in His Word and heart-obedience to it will reveal 95% of what it looks like. The rest of our decisions—like whether to sell our house, where to work, or who to marry—are revealed by His Spirit as we develop a close sensitivity to the path of peace which He guides us upon.

Our obedience to God’s Word and active pursuit of our relationship with Him makes the difference between living in safety or merely existing in insanity.

Like you, I have days when challenges seem to be packing the destructive force of a hurricane. That’s when I must make the choice which makes ALL the difference—God’s way—or mine. If I choose to tackle the projectiles flying from the tornado—without God—well…I’m alone. If I’m taking on the tornado without God it’s either because I’m too terrified to be smart or too ignorant to be terrified. But when I choose God’s way—HE takes on the storm and I watch—from the safety of His arms. He knows the path of the tornado and no force in heaven or earth can defeat Him.

Do you have GOD’s peace in your storm?

When I find myself outside the peace of God’s presence, I quickly become desperate to get back. With a heart of repentance and trust, I must ask His forgiveness for straying. I ask Him to help me despise the sin that leads me away from Him. Sin is an enemy of my heart’s sense of safety. Sometimes it’s “just worry” that plagues me–which, by the way, is a sneaky sin because it’s doubting the very character of God! God’s presence is so much better than anything less than Him. This becomes especially evident in the hurricanes of life!

My friend, when we become accustomed to God fighting our battles for us, we don’t ever want to fight them WITHOUT Him.

The Bible says:

“O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall.”

Isaiah‬ ‭25:1, 4‬

God is so faithful. We rarely know HOW He will handle the storm–but He ALWAYS does. He does the unimaginable. Though evil constantly threatens to crush us, we need not fear. God’s children may walk boldly in the shadow of our Almighty Father.

The peace of God’s presence is our secure habitation.

  1. Please continue to pray 🙏. I’m supposed to have Surgery on April 29th . For Occipital Neuralgia. I’m in the house a lot. It’s very dehabilating injury. They are changing so many medication’s. I just 🙏. It will give me relief so I can have some form of life. I have cried out to God to please heal me. You can’t produce much fruit being in a bed. Just want to bounce back up. My husband works and has to do much around here. Break the chains! Thank you Kimberly for your devotions.🙏

    1. I sure will. By way of encouragement…I have four very good friends who are some of the most powerful Christians I know and they have such significant health issues that they cannot walk. But because they are so bedridden, they have become the mightiest prayer warriors I know because they are determined that their life will not be defeated. I just talked to one of the men a week ago (his debilitating condition comes from a stroke and he can barely speak) and he kept saying “praying for you buddy” to me. He used to be my softball coach and called me “buddy” and was one of the strongest men I knew. His wife says he prays for me and this ministry all the time. Isn’t that remarkable?

      1. God’s got you girl! Nothing can separate you from His presence or thwart your ability to be a warrior in His kingdom. All of my greatest prayer time has been flat on my back during sickness. Praying for you now!
