What does the evidence of faith in God look like? One day I did myself a huge favor and made a list of all the manifestations of my faith in God. When I say “manifestation,” what I mean is the “proof” of God’s work that points to a power which is clearly outside my own ability. What do people see that points them back to God??? Although the list is still pretty short, I’m encouraged that it’s longer than it was 10 years ago…or even last year. By way of example, let me share just one item on this list.
It is what you are reading right now.
For years now, God has led me to write about the exciting lessons He uses to teach and encourage me during my quiet time. It’s such a gift to share my journey with others. No matter what time zone I’m in or where I am in the world, He has been faithful to teach me and give me energy, grace, and a good word. When I share it, it’s not always pretty or smooth; but, my friend, robust faith in God is ALWAYS lively even in the craziest circumstances. And—the more we exercise our faith in God, the stronger it gets.
Oh, how God is worthy of our greatest faith!
There is no question that each of us places our faith about the future in something or someone. We are faithful to many things—our job, our workout, our diet, our loved ones…fill in the blank with what motivates YOU each day. Unfortunately, we tend to give our leftover faith to the ONE who is most faithful to us. To see proof of God’s faithfulness, we need not look any further than Hebrews 11 which recounts the amazing faith of many of the people in the Old Testament. Of them, the Bible says:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For therein the elders had witness borne to them. By faith we understand that the worlds have been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen hath not been made out of things which appear….But…they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for He hath prepared for them a city. And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.”
Hebrews 11:1-3, 16, 39-40 KJV/ASV
Much like the great stories of faith recounted in the “Hall of Faith” of Hebrews 11, we should be able to share stories of our faith in God. Perhaps you are a new Christian and don’t have any stories yet; BUT your FIRST (and likely your greatest) story of faith is when you were born again! Write your story. Put it in a tract. Pray over it. Tell Share it with others. Tell your story. As you diligently follow God, you will be amazed at how God writes miraculous stories with your time, energy, love, and resources.
God has given you today; give it back to Him by placing your greatest faith in His plan for your life!
