How Can We Pray Powerfully For Our Nation?

Tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer in the United States. As I consider how to pray powerfully for our Nation, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. The problems of our country just seem too big. But God is so faithful to remind me of WHO He is! The more we know God, the more we see life from His perspective and from there, the smaller our problems become. But remember to know ABOUT God is not the same as KNOWING God. When we receive the gift of salvation, we KNOW God and we are empowered to tap into God’s power! There’s no power in heaven or on earth that can defeat HIM. That is the kind of power that our nation needs in order to change.

As we prepare to join together in prayer for our nation, I am reminded of the model prayer Jesus gave us over 2,000 years ago:

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” ‭‭‬

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬‬-‭13

The model prayer focuses us FIRST on GOD. We must remind ourselves of who He is based upon what He says about Himself. We tend to get so disoriented by the world’s version of God that we need daily reminders of who He really is. Also, we should remember…

…it is not the bare recitation of the Lord’s Prayer that makes it powerful—it is what happens in our heart when we sincerely believe in WHO God is. That BELIEF makes HIM the most important part of our life.

Our heart and mind are the battlegrounds for effective prayer. We pray to whomever we place on the throne of our heart. If the cares of this world are what we think about most—that is the god we serve and worship. But if God is the “who” and “what” we think about most—our heart is primed to bring the power of heaven—to earth! When we love GOD with all of our heart, soul, and mind—our prayers crash the gates of heaven.

Our love is manifested in our actions. This is exponentially true with God. No one has EVER put more ACTION into LOVE than God. Remember, He loved us so much that He gave His life for us while we were His enemies. (Romans 5:7-8) Thus, if we want to fully engage in powerful communication with Him, we must surrender to Him. Jesus surrendered His life for us. We must be committed to demonstrate love by spending time in direct, focused, and specific communication with God.

Love is our most powerful action.

God invites you to love Him. He invites you to put the power of love to work in your life for His glory. Just imagine how your love can move God, who moved Heaven and earth to have a relationship with you!

How remarkable that we can pray powerfully to GOD, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent! How radically different our prayers become when we KNOW He hears and answers. Prayer is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. It is an asset. When we are with God, we engage the GREATEST power in Heaven and on earth.

“If you ABIDE in Me, and My words ABIDE in you, you will ask what you desire, and it SHALL be done for you.”  ~Jesus‬

John‬ ‭15:7

  1. Hi Kimberly, I’ve just discovered you. I agree 💯 of what you say. I’ve just gone from blowing away All my money. Didn’t have any till our mother passed, five years ago. So I beat 🪘 myself up for three weeks , (I still do it at times). Until I realized I bought out of love ❤️. I bought me three cars and three other friends cars. So I’m a very loving person.
But my life is so much better, since I’m focusing on God now. I joined a much smaller church. Hadn’t been to church for over four years. Health issues, was robbed by church members, and just couldn’t go back. I do have many friends left from that church. But just didn’t want to see my robbers. Any advice how to get on with my life. I’m trusting God and praying 🙏 more now, and reading Gods word, more now than I have for many years 💕. As I’m getting older, I really see my mistakes, (I’m a stubborn and determined to do it my way) and all that God does for me daily! I’m also back to not having enough money 💰, to pay my bills. So I’m struggling and wish I could just get a job. But my age, and health won’t let me.
How much are your books 📚? Which one would you suggest I start with?

    1. God is faithful! My devotionals are free. The books are on Amazon and are reasonably priced. They are devotional books so if you can’t afford them, you can just read the ones on the website. ☺️
      Blessings,
