A Prayer For The Nation

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.”

‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬-‭16

Lord, we come before You and confess that we do not seek Your will and Your way like we should. Help us Lord. Forgive us for not making You the center of our life and our greatest passion. Lord, humble us. Forgive us for living as if we don’t need You

We desire Your eyes and ears to be attentive to our prayers. We desire for You to dwell here in our home, our city, our county, our State, and our Nation. We want for You to rule and be LORD; for You are the Prince of Peace. Change our hearts, one by one, and bring us close to You. May Your heart be reflected in all that we say and do.

Restore unto us the joy of our salvation! (Psalm 51:12)

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10

Lord, we ask for You to bring Your kingdom to reign over our nation. That each person would humble themselves before You. We pray for those who do not know You, that they may hear the Gospel and receive Your glorious gift of salvation. We desire Your will to be done by and through our nation.

We ask for you to work in the heart of our President, Joe Biden and our Vice President, Kamala Harris. We pray that You would order their steps according to Your will. We pray that they may lead our country with Your wisdom and for Your glory.

We pray for Congress, both the Senate and the House of Representatives, that they will represent ALL of the people of this country with honesty and integrity. That they would be concerned with protecting the liberties granted by You and guaranteed by our Constitution, including the liberties of the unborn and other vulnerable populations who don’t have a voice.

We pray for our State and local leaders that you will move them to do what is right and just according to Your standards as they are written in your Word.

We pray for our judges—from the U.S. Supreme Court to every municipal judge—that they will rule without personal bias and that they will rightly represent Your righteousness and judgment. Help them to discern both when protection is needed and when evil must be punished.

We pray for our Military, Law Enforcement, and each of their families. Place a hedge of protection around them. Lord, fill them with courage and integrity. May they serve with a heart that desires to bring honor to You, the Great Defender! Strengthen and encourage them during these darkest days. May they find their greatest strength in You!

We pray for our teachers, parents, churches, and community organizations. May they act with the kind of love that comes from You.

Help us as individuals and as a nation to “defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭82‬:‭3)

We ask that You show us how to better care for the homeless, hungry, lonely, heartbroken, those living in violence and abuse, foster children, orphans, victims of human trafficking and slavery, migrants and refugees, widows/widowers and the elderly who don’t have love and support. Show us how to better care for the sick (physically, emotionally and spiritually), the wounded (physically, emotionally and spiritually), and those without access to basic needs like clean water, healthcare, and education. May we be Your hands, feet, and heart!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” ‭

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬-‭34‬

Lord, we give thanks to You for the freedoms and prosperity You have given us in this remarkable land. May we use them to passionately carry out Your Great Commission. Bring salvation to this nation. Heal our land. Begin with me. Remove anything that separates me from You so that the strength of Your presence flows through me and I am a light to all around me.

Lord, You are gracious and merciful, tender hearted, and not desirous that any should perish. May the fruits of Your Spirit—Your love, joy, peace, kindness, longsuffering, goodness, gentleness, meekness,—flow through each person. May we give You the thanks and praise You deserve. Revive us Oh Lord, so we may be  “One Nation under God.”

In Jesus’s Holy Name,

Amen.
