Complete Satisfaction Part 3: A Heart Like Christ

Share

heart of christ

After we are born again and begin to develop the mind of Christ, we become more and more aware of our ability to communicate with God. When we begin to think more like God does, we begin to see another fundamental transformation which heightens our awareness of God’s presence even more. What is this transformation?

Well, we begin developing a healthy heart.

Thus, in ALL areas of life we DESIRE to fall more in line with God’s will. Our heart and mind line up and begin to work as God intended for them to. We begin to deeply comprehend that any area of our life that is not in line with God’s Word—will produce painful results. Sin is as destructive and corrosive as drinking poison. God reveals the plan of our enemies—to convince us to love the poison, and to keep us from finding complete satisfaction in God’s presence. We run from sin because we want to develop a heart that desires God’s righteousness. We recognize the righteousness of God is GOOD for us. We begin to abhor the evil of ALL sin.

You see—we ALL—DO what we LOVE and AVOID which we HATE.

So when we begin to transform our minds to think like God, we understand not just the LOGIC of reordering our loves, but our heart enters into the EXPERIENCE of being fully satisfied by God. The experience of God’s presence seals the deal! Jesus desires to be close to us. Loving God is good for us. Perhaps that’s why the first commandment is to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.”

Matthew 22:37-38

If we want the healthiest heart, soul, and mind—then we will love God more than anyone or anything else!

When our loves are NOT out of whack, we will NOT have spiritual heart trouble. Our love of our job, our things, our money, our looks, our friends, food, or even a great marriage or children will be reordered. When my children were babies, I had such tremendous natural love for them that I gladly reordered much of my life around them. I rarely begrudged missing out on the things I used to do because my mind and heart were aligned with their best interest and I believed they were worth it! Well, what Jesus did for us goes so far beyond our own sacrifice for our children—that it’s completely unimaginable for us.

God thought we were worth the sacrifice; we do ourselves a huge favor if we grow and begin to value the relationship.

God does more for us than anyone. He is worthy to be the greatest object of our passion. God died for us. He lives for us. God lives IN us. He protects us. He strengthens us. God gives us peace. He gives us more love than we can ever repay. God’s love is enduring, it is supernatural, and there is no experience like it! It is far greater than the emotional waves which cause us to place crushing burdens upon each other and causes perpetual dissatisfaction.

The goodness of God is transformational because it causes us to pursue Him with all our heart, soul, and mind!

We were created to be completely satisfied in God—and this includes love. No one else can ever come close! God’s Word is abundantly clear!

“And the Lord will guide you continually and SATISFY your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

Isaiah 58:11

When our relationship with God is our greatest passion, in other words, we are constantly seeking His plan for our life and to live in His righteousness then…“ALL these things will be added” to us. Matthew 6:33

God never fails; and neither does His love.

My friend, perhaps you believe that you already have the mind of Christ AND that your heart belongs to Christ—but what is the absolute proof that this is true? Take a minute and reflect on the original question in this series:

Do you know ANY Christian who seems completely satisfied; that is, not only content in their circumstances, but also overflowing with love, joy, peace, wisdom, and strength?

Tomorrow we will discuss the final thought in this series: The EVIDENCE that you are living in Divine Satisfaction.

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
