What parent does not want their children to have every possible advantage in life?
I do! A lot of work, money, and time was spent to ensure my children had an excellent education. They were taught the Bible and academics; trained in music; they played sports; and learned manners. By most people’s standards—they are successful humans. Grace is an E.R nurse, Sara works for SalesForce, a Fortune 500 company, and Jon graduated from West Point and flies Apache Helicopters for the U.S. Army. Thousands of hours, and even more dollars were spent to ensure their success! I like to think I was GOOD to my children. But our Father in Heaven is much better!!!
If our Father in Heaven is as GOOD as HE says He is, THEN…Don’t you think HE also desires for HIS children to have EVERY advantage?
My friend, are you taking full advantage of—the advantages—of being God’s child?
Ah, how we all tend to default to navigate life based solely upon what we see, hear, feel and perceive with our physical mind. This is the best evidence that we have not chosen to live using the full advantages God has given us. And, if we are not taking advantage of God’s RESOURCES, how can we live up to all the POTENTIAL He created within us? Although Jesus lived fully as a human, He relied on something much greater than His physical senses to navigate life.
What was this GREATER resource?
“And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall NOT judge by what his EYES see, or decide disputes by what his EARS hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.”
Isaiah 11:2-4a
Jesus, made incarnate, was guided by a supernatural force—the Holy Spirit! And—He promised to leave His Spirit to indwell His children. When WE allow the Spirit to control our life, we are guided by the supernatural wisdom of God!
How can YOU be guided by God’s Spirit?
Jesus told us EXACTLY how:
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”
John 14:15-17
God’s Spirit guides us on a greater path than we can imagine!
When we are children of God, and we determine to live in the freedom of His law of love rather than chained by our sin; we live in the advantages of the magnificent “Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge!” (Isaiah 11:2)
