When recently visiting my childhood church with mom and dad, I received such a blessing I wrote it down so I could later re-read it. The message was so rich that God is continuing to multiply it in my life. Before I tell you about it though, let me give you some backstory.
I am presently in the midst of some very intense spiritual battles which are occurring on multiple fronts. While I cannot share the details, I will say the toughest battles are where the enemy has infiltrated the camp through the avenue of offense. When people take the bait of offense and remain in the trap of unforgiveness—it breeds bitterness and poisons the well of ministry. Pride causes them to lose sight of their glorious purpose. Their victimhood taints everything good in their life. This poison wreaks havoc on the heart of the ministry.
I don’t ever remember a time in my life where the enemy has come from so many different directions at once!
But—this battlefield is presenting me with the greatest opportunities to demonstrate the power of God!
You see, when I feel overwhelmed, I often fall back to what I know. My knee-jerk reaction is, “Kimberly, you’ve got this!” NO!!! That’s the wrong answer. My first reaction needs to be “Kimberly, God’s got this!” God keeps bringing me back to my struggle with placing my life 100% in His hands—including and especially when it comes to SPIRITual warfare. Hello—God is a Spirit—HE is better equipped than ME to handle SPIRITUAL warfare!!!
Now—to the message I heard. I’ve known Kerry Mitchell, aka “Mitch,” since I was a young girl. He is an amazing athlete, and back when I was a teen (and generally terrible basketball player) I got to know him when a group of us used to play ball at the church gym on Friday nights. Today he is a lay-minister. He opens the morning service at my home church with his “random thoughts.” God always gives him some very powerful random thoughts—like this one:
This was so timely and—it blew me away. God was showing me that these intense spiritual battles were an opportunity for me to SEE His hand at work in my life. And—even more than that—it was an opportunity for me to SHOW His hand at work! The best testimonies of God’s work in our life are the rescue stories—right?
What better way to glorify God!
Take heart! No matter what you are struggling with right now—you can ALWAYS place your life in God’s hands. Surrender the offenses, surrender the pride, surrender the problems, and—let God do God. He is really good at it. In His hands you will experience the most extraordinarily miraculous power known to man. God’s Divine power has “given to us ALL THINGS that pertain to life!”
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,”
II Peter 1:2-3
