You Are On Trial: What Is The Verdict?

I hadn’t contemplated the idea of being on trial, but God has been teaching me that life itself can be likened to a trial. The trial is called “life” and the verdict I strive for at the end of my days is: “She lived her life in pursuit of God’s glory.” The people around us who know that we claim to be followers of Christ are closely observing the evidence presented and the examining our testimony. Can they discover truth within the multitude of words and actions we express?

When we are born again into the family of God, our life becomes a reflection of Christ, and the world becomes an audience observing the evidence. HE is the Word of truth:

“In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by HIM; and without HIM was not any thing made that was made. In HIM was life; and the life was the light of men.”

John 1:1-4

“I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6

When we become citizens of God’s kingdom through receiving His gift of salvation, we are ambassadors of truth. If our trial were to conclude today, what verdict would the world pronounce on us? Did we rightly represent THE truth? Are we an open book of God’s truth?

In other words, when people see us—do they see Jesus?

There is a man mentioned only once in the Bible. The commentary on his life was short but quite remarkable:

“Demetrius has a good report of all men, and of the truth itself.”

3 John 1:12

What a testimony! When I read this, my first prayer was “Oh Lord, I want people to say this about me; but MOST of all, I want YOU to say this about me!” I was instantly reminded of the prayer of King David:

“SEARCH me, O God, and know my heart: TRY me, and KNOW my thoughts: and SEE if there be any wicked way in me, and LEAD me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:23-24

I want God to purify me so that my life is a clear testimony of Him—He is light and in Him is no darkness at all! (John 1:5)

The world is closely observing and making judgments about us, but there is no need to fear! This presents us with an opportunity we cannot afford to waste. We may be the only representation of Jesus that someone ever sees. So how does Jesus appear through us? When we align ourselves with the truth found in HIS Word and HE is the great hope and love of our life—the EVIDENCE of the TRUTH (Jesus) is CLEAR and CONVINCING. Our life manifests…“love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23

When we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and love our neighbor as ourselves—the verdict is always “Jesus.” Jesus is glorified. He is Lord. Jesus saves. He loves. Jesus is hope. He wins.

When Jesus is Lord of our life; HE wins.
