Why Do We Blame God?

Why do we so often blame God for the bad things that happen to us? Whether it’s sickness, crime, natural disasters, or personal heartbreak–we often blame Him. We may say we do NOT, but blame is more subtle than we realize. For example, we may not come out and SAY we blame God, but blame is manifested when we quit making Him the center of our life. We stop trusting Him and begin trusting ourselves instead. We stop praying and instead—start worrying. We stop making Him the center of our life and instead—make our problems the focus. We reason “Well, God is NOT doing such a great job, so I’ll just take matters back into my own hands.”

So why do we blame God?

Well, to blame someone without proof of offense, we must doubt their very character. But to doubt God’s blameless character is a reflection of either—how little we know about Him or—how much we’ve forgotten.

God is the giver of all of goodness—NOT the cause of evil.

When evil causes us to walk away from God; we’re hurting ourselves and exposing our heart to even worse pain. In fact, we’re openly exposing ourselves to the power of our enemies. We’re taking away our only shelter from the storm. We begin to believe we can handle evil without Him. Like Eve, the mother of all sinners, we think that we know better than God, so we choose our own way. Then—we pay the consequences—and so do those around us.

It’s a frightening thought when we understand that ANY area of our life that we do not turn over to God is territory that’s not protected or defended by Him. Rather, we’ve placed our life in opposition to Him. We cannot expect His blessings on the withheld area of our life; rather, we should expect Him to oppose us! It’s just like injecting cancer into any part of our body-it will eventually spread. Any part of our life not surrendered to God will eventually maim and kill our ability to glorify Him. In order to surrender our ENTIRE life to God, we must change our way of thinking about who He is!

My friend, we cannot afford to fall into the hands of our enemies—the eternal consequences are just too great!

Our adversary “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8b) Satan tells us that because evil exists—we can’t trust God’s character. But evil doesn’t change God—in fact, it reveals His love.  Jesus loves us so much that He died to give us the ability to choose Him and experience His real love

My friend, to keep our mind straight about who God is, we must be daily renewing our mind with the truth of His Word.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV

We must fight back against the wrong thoughts about God. We must not live in the blindness of our how our enemies define God! Of course, our arch-enemy Satan, wants us to think God is bad because then we are separated from the only REAL source of goodness! The truth reveals God for who He really is. Only God’s presence can produce the goodness money can’t buy; that is, real love, joy, peace, kindness, compassion and all amazing characteristics of our GOOD GOOD Father!

Someday, God is going to create a new Heaven and a new Earth where there won’t be any tears, tornadoes, cancer cells, crimes, or death because—all the universe will be ruled by Him. If we belong to God and make Him our center, He shines “in our hearts” and gives us “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:4-6) My friend, when evil is closing in—don’t run from God—draw closer to Him!

There is no one we can trust more than the ONE who gave His life so we could live!
