There have been many times when I’ve been sitting across my desk from a client with nothing but a legal problem on their mind, and the Holy Spirit has prompted me to share the Gospel with them. And right there, in that very hour, in an office where they walked in expecting nothing but legal advice, they received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Wow, right? Their eternity changed in a place they never expected to find Him. This is the powerful position every single born again believer is in, wherever we are and whatever we do all day long.
The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation!
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
If you do not yet know how to share your own testimony of salvation or explain the Gospel clearly, that is not a disqualification; it is simply a starting point. Visit the section of our website dedicated to the gift of salvation. Our basic Bible concept videos are also helpful for learning how to have relevant, natural conversations with people using the truth of God’s Word.
Sometimes we only get one shot to make an eternal difference in someone else’s life, and today may be that day.
We need to be living in sober, wide-eyed awareness of the high stakes this life has for us and those around us. We may meet someone who is having the last conversation with anyone who actually knows Jesus. We do not get to know which conversations these are in advance—but we MUST be ready for them.
This is exactly why the Lord is continually pressing me to stay in constant contact with Him through prayer. It takes discipline. If I don’t automatically wake up praying, I must remind myself to begin. If I find myself becoming anxious in the middle of the day, I must remind myself to turn to God. God did not suggest we pray without ceasing; His Word commands it:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
This verse totally makes sense because we are not living on a playground. The Bible makes it clear: we are engaged in active spiritual warfare, and we are either for Christ or against Him. No middle ground.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)
No soldier in the middle of combat would want to lose contact with the commander who has the intel to guide the battle and protect lives. God has intel far greater than any physical commander. If we truly believe we are engaged in spiritual warfare for eternal souls, then staying off the radio with the One who sees the whole battlefield is not just careless; it is foolish.
Today is an opportunity to change the future of someone around you!
Only God knows my future. Only He deserves to call the shots in my life—not because He demands control for its own sake, but because He alone paid the price for it. He gave His only Son so that I could have eternal life. In fact, He gave me the physical life I am living right now. I am not my own. I am bought with an unfathomable price.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
And God is giving every one of His children extravagant, unimaginable opportunities—today! Paul prayed:
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)
Part of our abundant opportunity is crowns that will outlast this world. Crowns like the souls of people who would have spent eternity apart from Jesus had we stay silent! The Bible explains:
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? (1 Thessalonians 2:19)
My friend, today is possibly the first day of eternal life for someone you will meet. Do not miss the opportunity to share the gift of salvation. You may not get a second chance. They may not either. Speak now. Love now. Pray now as you go, because only God knows the future of each person you meet.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving me both my physical life and my eternal life through Your Son. Teach me to stay in constant contact with You through prayer, because I know I am living on a battlefield. Help me recognize the pivotal moments You put in front of me, and give me courage, wisdom, and love to speak Your truth and show the fruit of Your Spirit to the people You bring across my path. I do not want to miss a single opportunity You have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
