The Safety Of Dwelling In The Presence Of God

The safety of dwelling in the presence of God is often misunderstood as being a safety from all the effects of the fallen world. We do not live in a safe place. We are in enemy territory. We live in a spiritual war zone.

The enemy’s primary objective is to keep us from knowing God and experiencing His presence.

When I begin to be afraid, I find such great comfort in reminding me of the promises of God. His Word is full of rich reminders. The enemy can touch our body but, when we are born again it can’t ever terrorize our soul. Our soul is God’s territory.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation. ‭‭

Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭16‬ ‭

The closer we stay to God, the less we are afraid.

  1. We must stay close to God. If we do , he is our protector and Great Shepard and will protect us from all harm and danger.

  2. Psalm 91 has always been my favorite Psalm, since I accepted Jesus into my life & heart at age 14. This Psalm has brought me through times of trouble, & helped me rejoice in all that God does for me. Right now I’m going throught the greatest loss I have ever faced, & when I started reading this, it brought tears as well as a reminder that God is here, with me, healing me, loving me, sheltering me when the pain feels overwhelming. I needed to see this today. Thank you.

  3. Psalm 91 has much to say and more to cling to during these trouble times. Only those who stand in the shadow of God Almighty will endure what this life and what the enemy brings. Only those who stand in the shadow of Jesus are covered … only those who have His Word applied to their lives in order to live in Christ will stand.

    When trouble comes … and it does … my prayer is to be so close to HIM that I can see through the fog knowing I am a citizen of another Kingdom … and a child of The King. When temptation comes I pray the same. There is so much deception … half truths.

    Your devotions are one of two I read. I am thankful for your voice. There are many voices out there and we have to be ever so careful. Thank you so much for sharing Truth.
    Rebecca
