I’m so glad that God consistently reminds me of the incredible power of speaking in a way to lead others to discover eternal blessings! God’s Word is enables us to speak light and life. But we have a big choice to make because…
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.“
Proverbs 18:21a)
Our words, are evidence of the condition of our heart. Jesus said:
“…a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”
Matthew 12:33-35)
When our heart is open and submitted to God, we deploy words of love, strength, wisdom and comfort to a weary world. The Prophet Isaiah said:
“The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.”
Isaiah 50:4
Speaking words of life begins with our heart. It must be CONSTANTLY tuned into God. Because we have enemies (the devil, the flesh and the world) who will batter us and try to draw us away from God, we must hide His Word in our heart and stay close to His presence.
When we’re close to God, He makes our heart beautiful and then what comes out of our mouth is also beautiful.
To speak is a gift. Our words can be such a source of joy to ourselves and other. Our words can give others a beautiful picture of our good God. Good words, given in love, are never wasted—even if the hearer rejects them. Look at how often we reject and neglect God’s precious Word—but yet, His Word is so powerful that it brought the universe into existence. (John 1; Genesis 1)
When our words come from God, they are worth more than GOLD.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.“
Proverbs 25:11
