A mustard seed is only about 1-2 millimeters. But that tiny bit of faith in the right thing or person—can do great works. Think about the great faith you put in your vehicle to transport you 70 mph. Or, the faith you put in a commercial airplane at 900 mph. My friend, it doesn’t take much faith to get in your car or on a plane right? But the distance you cover by exercising faith in these inanimate objects is far greater than the distance you would cover by just your own two legs—right?
Well, how much more could you accomplish by placing 100% of your faith in God?
We begin this process by making a daily decision to place our life in the hands of God. I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes it’s a struggle. In the midst of the day, I forget to trust Him. I begin to get anxious. I forget to ask for help. Sometimes, I just think it’s easier to put my faith in myself instead of Faith in God.
The Bible gives us insight about the common sense of placing our faith in God:
“By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible.”
Hebrews 11:3
Creation is marvelous evidence of THE Master designer. What amazing plans He must have for us humans—who are the pinnacle of His creation! When we learn to live completely by faith in God, our daily decisions are framed by His eternal purpose. We don’t stay grounded! Just look at Noah, who built the ark on dry land even though he had never seen rain or a flood before! His faith in God enabled him to act on “evidence of things not seen.” Thus, his faith saved him from a flood greater than he could have ever imagined.
Is our faith taking us to places our eyes, ears and brain could never imagine?
Taking the “flight of faith” means obedience isn’t based upon the guarantee of a certain result. If God says jump in, we don’t worry about the landing! This applies to all areas, from talking to someone about their eternal destiny…to major life-changing decisions such as marriage or a career change. The foundation for any decision should be faith in God, not what we can see will work.
Ah, my dear friend, don’t live the rest of your life on the ground, when God promises to be the wind beneath your wings!
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31
