Perfect Love That Never Fails—Have You Found It Yet?

How many times have you been disappointed in love? You find that one wonderful person who is nearly everything you ever wanted and then—you’re crushed when they fail and fall short of your expectations. Unkind actions and words fly, and unforgiveness and bitterness grow. Your life becomes a cycle of drama-control and you long for peace. Soon, what once seemed so wonderful becomes a prison of sorrow. You long to go back to the time when love seemed perfect, but—that fairytale has disappeared, and you’re left living in the cold cinders of dead romance. Yet, even from a prison of disappointment, a spark of hope exists because—we KNOW we were made to experience a supernaturally perfect love.

How do we innately know this???

Because we were created in the image of God! (Genesis 1:27) He placed within us a knowledge of Himself (Romans 1:18-21) God IS perfect love. (1 John 4:8) I promise you; perfect love IS possible.

And you’re not crazy to want it! Most of us are just looking for love in all the wrong places. To expect to receive perfect love from another imperfect human is to set yourself up for failure and disappointment. But yet, we ALL do it—over and over again. In fact, we expect the highest kind of love from someone else; when we, ourselves, can’t give it to them. That is irrational. So, it’s no wonder we experience worry, fear, and insecurities in our human love relationships.

We expect someone who is imperfect—to love us perfectly.

IMPOSSIBLE!!! But, standby…there is GOOD news!

God has given us Himself—the embodiment of perfect love. God’s love is our place of refuge and safety—free from fear.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…We love him, because He first loved us.”

(1 John 4:18-19)

Perfect love comes from God, Who gave Himself completely for tarnished, unlovable, and imperfect people. If we want perfect love, we must seek God with all our heart. Living in His presence, we learn to experience love—as He does. He is the only one we will ever love Who is ALREADY full of love. He doesn’t NEED anything from us. God does not suck the life out of us! When we are filled with His presence, we learn to love like He does—without expectation. Because we cannot out-give God, the more we give away His perfect love, the more He fills us. Do you see how giving away God’s love causes us to experience it even more? The flow must increase to keep our tank overflowing. The stream gets bigger. When we desire God most, He satisfies our desire for Him and—He is love!

God is our unfailing source of love.

“Love NEVER fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”

(‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13:8‬)

Only an unfailing God can give us the kind of love that never fails.

  1. This message really touched me. 50 years ago I married someone who was not capable of giving love, but I mistook the things he did, as love. I’ve now been divorced for half of those years. He pretended to be a Christian, until the day we married. Not only was he jealous of my dog, but he was jealous of my relationship with The God Who loves me. Finally I received the message from God, a Bible verse. “I WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH. & THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. I LOVE YOU, YOU ARE VALUABLE TO ME” So i want to thank you for that reminder.
