What obstacles stand between your greatest dream and…the blessing of actually attaining it? My mind goes back to Nehemiah. GOD placed a great vision inside of him to rebuild the wall and the city of Jerusalem. (Nehemiah 2:12) But there were huge obstacles to this dream…discouragement (chapter 4); conflict (5:1); critics (6:3); fear of pain (6:9); and distraction (6:3).
Do these enemies sound familiar?
His obstacles are much like ours! We know we were born for supernatural greatness and thus, we sense God has given us a purpose that exceeds our human capability—right? But the enemies are constantly creeping in and trying to thwart the blessings. For example, when cynics suck the air out of your soul, do you listen to them and allow their words to drag you down? Do you allow false accusers, or those who constantly remind you of your past failures, to render you bitter and useless? Does the fear of failure or the possibility of pain paralyze you into inaction? These are the battles of the mind. But by putting on the mind of Christ, we can win—just like Nehemiah did!
God WILL bless us and we [and everyone around us] will know…it was ALL Him!
For example, when Nehemiah finished the wall; everyone—even the enemies of God—knew that GOD had built it. The Bible says,
“All the nations around us were afraid and they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.”
(Nehemiah 6:16)
In fact, God moved so powerfully, that the enemy even helped Nehemiah pay for the blessing! When Nehemiah asked King Artaxerxes for a letter of credit; instead, the King gave him the lumber yard.
“The king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.”
(Nehemiah 2:8)
God has the ability to multiply the work of our hands and produce more than we can ever do without Him.
You must remember that there are four players who affect your blessings—God, you, the devil, and other people. But—there is only ONE who is ALWAYS on your side—and it’s NOT even you! Sometimes you are your own worst enemy. The battle is won in the mind. When we renew our mind daily in the presence of God, we take the first step towards winning. Then, we must ask God to guide us each step of the way. When we yield to Him—He absolutely takes control of our day.
God wins. When our mind is on Him—we win too! When God is on the throne of our mind and heart, there are no obstacles that can rob us of the blessings He has planned.
The blessings come rolling in when we live like God is greater than our obstacles.
