Did you know that God cares about our tears? As I finished up my read-through of the New Testament in the Book of Revelation, it brought peace to my soul to read:
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:3-4 NKJV
As I tried to imagine a world without tears, death, sorrow, crying, and pain, my imagination was just not big enough. It’s all we’ve ever known. Our greatest joys in life are always shadowed by a knowledge that it can’t last. It never does. But…
Someday all evil that overshadows our joy—will be no more.
The Bible doesn’t say this just once! God wants us to KNOW and REMEMBER the future of those who choose His gift of salvation:
He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah 25:8 NKJV
The Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Revelation 7:17 NKJV
Someday, God will silence our enemies and we will be completely free to live in the glorious presence of His goodness without the pain of sin. We will know love without any disappointment. We will know beauty that doesn’t fade, and strength that does not fail. We will have wisdom beyond measure, and peace unmarred by trouble.
But—we don’t have to wait for “someday” to have a foretaste of these marvelous experiences. We can do it now! God promises us HIS love—that NEVER disappoints; HIS beauty—that lights our countenance despite our outward appearance; strength that is strongest when we are weak; wisdom that confounds the “wise” of this world; and peace that passes understanding. These experiences are magnified in the presence of darkness. The contrast is stunning. NOW we can experience God and have an extraordinary testimony of His power and love.
My friend, seek God passionately. If you struggle with knowing how to seek God, perhaps our three part series on Knowing God will help. He WILL be found. His Word is our guidebook; His creation is our classroom. People all around us are in desperate need of a relationship with Him.
If you are born again, you have a great future and a hope to look forward to—don’t you want everyone you know to have it too?
Put on the whole armor of God and be prayerful as you navigate the day. There are lost souls all around looking for the freedom we have in Christ. We possess the great treasure of the Gospel! Let’s share it.
Someday I want to see everyone I know in the place of no more tears, pain, sorrow or death—don’t you?
