Invincibility By Confidence In God Part 1

When my children were young, I found great delight in their accomplishments. But I also noticed they were far more confident learning something new when they knew a parent they trusted was with them. For example, Sara’s first jump into the deep end of a pool happened when she could see I was already there. My presence gave her confidence to overcome her fear. This bond of trust is a gift that keeps on giving—in ways we don’t even fully comprehend. For example, I can’t explain why encouragement from my mom and dad in my endeavors to make music and write devotionals gives me so much confidence—even at my age—but that bond of love and trust still has the remarkable effect of producing confidence that allows me to test the outer edge of my own limitations.

I believe the parent-child relationship is one of God’s invaluable ways of teaching us how to have invincible confidence in Him!

How do we GAIN this mindset?

After we are born again, we must grow in our relationship with God. Trust is built with experience. We experience God when we are close to Him. We are close to Him when we are constantly seeking to purify our heart and draw close to Him. He is our perfectly righteous Father and He loves us more than we love ourselves. Sara knew I loved her and she could trust me. That gave her the courage to jump. Close to our Father—We experience HIS invincibility. My friend, if we don’t want to live in fear and be held captive by the enemy’s version of who God is, we must constantly be thankful. We MUST remember Who God is and what He did for us! Remember…

  • He willingly left the splendors of heaven and became incarnate to pay for our sins. (John 1)
  • He spoke the universe and all we enjoy into existence. (Genesis 1; John 1)
  • He loves us so much that He died for us when we hated Him. (John 3:16; Romans 5:7-8)
  • He sacrificed His greatest relationship and all He had so we could know Him. (James 4:8)
  • He desires to live inside us and give us unimaginably wonderful blessings. (Jeremiah 29:11)

God desires for us to live in confidence and power. The prayer of Paul for the Ephesians was that they learn to live in the resurrection power of Jesus. He prayed…

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

Ephesians 1:17-21

‭‭‭When our heart belongs to God—our fear is lost in His strength and we live in the confidence of HIS invincibility.

So now, if we know how to GAIN God’s invincible confidence; the next question is—“How do we LOSE it?”  That is the topic of tomorrow’s devotional.

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
