How To Keep Your Soul Continually Satisfied

Yesterday we talked about the current anger pandemic being rooted in the collective soul of society being starved of REAL love. In sum, we said:

“Love is giving without an expectation of receiving. It’s what God does. It’s who He is. When we are filled with Him, He enables us to love like He does.” So the question is:

“How do we enter into God’s love so our soul is continually satisfied?”

As I worship God in my quiet time this morning and ask His Diving guidance to answer this question, I hear Him whisper to me: “Tell them how I’ve worked this truth in you, my dear child.” So here goes…

If you’ve read my testimony or watched the video of my journey on the “a little about me” page of this website, you know I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of 23. On that day, God made my spirit alive. And you know from reading my story, my soul’s journey to build a relationship with Him took—much longer than I would have liked. You see, at the time I was born again, I did not realize…

GOD MORE WORTH PURSUING THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD!

To understand why, we must understand how God made us. [If you need more information about what God says about who you are, feel free to watch the video on human design in the topical studies] A close relationship with God merits greater focus and importance than a career, a love relationship, children, friends, material things, sports, popularity….you name it! I wish I had understood earlier the immense value that a close relationship with God would add to my life. I spent so many years in pursuit of lesser things—things that were completely incapable of satisfying my soul. Until the scales fell off the eyes of my soul, I was unable to see His goodness (even though I was born again). Why? I had allowed the ENEMIES of my soul—my flesh, the world, and the devil—to feed my soul for so long that it was starving.

I only knew God for what the ENEMY had said He was—not for Who HE says He IS.

To know WHO God is—we must study His Word with passion; seek Him with all our heart; and forsake the lies of our enemies. God is the greatest friend of our soul. As we seek HIM—we DESIRE to forsake the lies of the enemies of our soul.

My friend, begin the journey today to seek God and His ways—you will never regret it! His Word is deep enough to challenge the most intelligent scholar, yet simple enough to be understood by a young child. God’s Word is the “bread of life” and Jesus is the “living water,” both necessities for the health of our soul. Jesus said:

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:4

“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:13-14‬

So how much of HIS WORD do we eat? How often do we, with purpose, drink in the presence of God? I’ll confess, I’ve had spiritual anorexia most of my Christian life. I disproportionately subsisted on the pursuit of wealth, relationships, career, family, and crowd-approval because I believed they would satisfy me. Instead—they starved me. I was eating husks and drinking mud.

Although I attained nearly every worldly goal I set—nothing ever satisfied my soul because—I was created to be satisfied by God.

But—when I began to taste and see that God is good, I began to grow and heal. I learned to recognize my necessity for God and it naturally increased the ratio of time I spent with Him. He became the most integral part in all of my pursuits. He became my sustenance for surviving all life’s troubles and enabling me to live in peace, satisfaction, love, power, wisdom, and humility.

Now—I’m addicted to God’s presence.

If reading a devotional, the verse of the day, or attending church is the only time you spend with God, then—you may be starving yourself too! God has a nutritional plan to satisfy you and make you strong and healthy. Become completely connected to God as your PRIMARY source of nutrition and He will heal you and make you grow stronger than you ever imagined!

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬
