Have you ever suffered a deeply personal injustice? Perhaps you busted your butt for your employer, but instead of being rewarded, your boss repaid you by “promoting” you to a career-ending job. As your anger mounts, you can’t stop thinking about the years and the hours of time you spent educating yourself and wonder, “What was the point?” You think about how you made the sacrifices, and always went the extra mile but—instead of having the top floor office with the skyline view and the executive salary—you’re stuck in the basement organizing the maintenance room. Meanwhile, the under-qualified, lazy co-worker who barely did her job—gets the promotion—because she’s buddies with the boss.
It’s so difficult to stop thinking about the injustice!
We all have our own stories of personal injustice, but I’m so thankful that God put so many other personal stories of injustice in His Word. It’s God’s way of demonstrating for us how He works evil against itself. Remember…
Our personal injustice is not wasted IF—we live for a purpose that is greater than ourselves.
God gives us hope because He has given us—a bigger and better story. Our story is not about us—it’s about HIM. Our story can have a richer and more satisfying meaning than the shallow existence of simply living for self.
EVERY person on the planet will suffer some degree of personal injustice. So if you’re going to suffer anyway…
Wouldn’t you rather go through pain WITH Almighty God who can see the future?
Wouldn’t you rather your suffering be part of a Divine purpose instead of just merely surviving another round of crappy treatment?
It doesn’t matter how hard you work in order to avoid being treated badly…in this world you WILL be abused. You CAN walk through it with ONE who loves you. Dedicate your life to Him instead of your unjust boss will never love you like God does. Even the best Christians you know—can’t love you like God does. All the best human relationships will be pockmarked with the sin-induced pain that plagues creation.
The one relationship that will NEVER fail us is our relationship with God.
Ah, how wonderful it is to know that our suffering does not have to be in vain. Not one human has suffered the degree of personal injustice Jesus did. He faced it with a very high and precious purpose—to rescue us!!! He suffered apocalyptic injustice—all the way to hell and back. Even when He knew He was getting ready to suffer unspeakable horrors, He offered encouragement to His disciples:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
Indeed, when we are IN CHRIST, we WILL have peace amidst any tribulation. The key is to learn to live IN HIM. That means we must make choices. Everyday. Will we follow Him in ALL His ways? Will we make the effort to build a relationship with Him? Will we fill our minds with His good Word? When we are INTO SOMEONE—it takes time and effort. It’s no different with God.
When we are ALL IN with God, we have confidence that—injustice is simply another opportunity to turn evil against itself.
When we’re in God’s presence, then even in times of great personal injustice we have peace because we KNOW—we WILL be victorious in the end. Jesus has overcome the world.
“Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
1 John 4:4
