Yesterday we learned how being in God’s presence draws us into His love. His love is an experience you simply don’t want to miss—not even for one minute! If you DESIRE to be constantly filled with God’s love, don’t you think it’s a great idea to positively identify anything that will DEPRIVE you of it?
What do YOU think is YOUR greatest love-thief? For example:
Do you think your CIRCUMSTANCES keep you from experiencing a strong sense of God’s love? For example, if a tornado takes out your home, your spouse dies, or you are injured in a car wreck—do you STILL feel a strong sense of God’s love?
Do you think PEOPLE prevent you from experiencing a strong sense of God’s love? For example, if you are unjustly demoted, or your best friend abandons you—do you STILL feel a strong sense of God’s love?
Paul was PERSUADED that NOTHING—circumstances, people, or even supernatural beings—could separate him from God’s love:
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
HOW was Paul persuaded that nothing could separate Him from God’s love? Well, God’s Word makes it clear that we ALL have the ability to be in the center of God’s perfect love.
“Now by this we KNOW that we KNOW Him, if we KEEP His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But WHOEVER keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. BY THIS we KNOW that we are in HIM.”
1 John 2:3-5
When the truth of God’s Word is alive in us—meaning we are ACTIVELY following His ways more than our own way—we end up in the CENTER of His perfect love.
To live in opposition to God’s Word is to live in opposition to His love.
Sin is the greatest enemy of love. But…
…When we’re living by God’s Word and in a strong relationship with Him, we live in the extraordinary realization that we are irrevocably loved.
