“Hello, World!” Experiencing the Majesty of God

Share

hello world

“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” Psalm 8:3-4

The Artemis II crew captured the first human photographs of Earth from deep space in more than fifty years. Commander Reid Wiseman’s “Hello, World” image shows our blue planet glowing against the void with auroras dancing at the poles, clouds swirling over oceans, and a thin veil of atmosphere hugging the globe.

The photo took my breath away, and it made me think: If a mere photo of God’s majestic work inspires such profound awe in me, then—I want to experience more of the One who created the majesty!

The grandeur and beauty of Creation pull our hearts upward to God, who spoke it all into being. He crafted this world not as a cold rock in the cosmos, but as a gift of nearly unimaginable proportions for us to enjoy—every sunrise, every mountain, every breath of air—a daily reminder of His generous heart.

Yet this photo does far more than inspire awe in me.

It is profoundly humbling. From 140,000 miles away, continents shrink to specks, cities vanish, and we can see how utterly small we are. In that vastness, we grasp our total dependence on God’s omniscience that orders every orbit, His omnipotence that holds the universe together, and yet—His lovingkindness that cares so deeply for us that He enters into each life—and He actually cares about whether we have a flat tire or a leaky sink.

Without Him we have nothing and we are nothing, “for in Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28

Every heartbeat, every harvest, every trip made in safety, every moment of goodness is God’s grace upon grace. The more we are aware of God’s goodness, the more we experience the fullness of His majestic presence. Awareness of God is cultivated through thankfulness. We are commanded to be thankful because it is good for us.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭

Thankfulness is a discipline we should cultivate not just because of all the good things God provides us on this earth—the beauty, the food, the loved ones who share our lifes—but most of all for the unthinkable act of love that went far beyond creation. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8) He suffered horribly, nailed to a cross, bearing the full weight of our rebellion so that we could enjoy eternity in His beauty and majesty. The same God whose breath shaped the stars stepped into our smallness, took the full load of our sin, and offered an invitation to salvation. We can dwell with Him in perfection forever. And even now, in this sin-torn world, we can dwell in His presence.

My friend, God has a special plan for you. He made only one you. Knowing Him better—will reveal the special identity He created just for you. God’s plan for your life is more beautiful and majestic than a photo of Earth. If you are born again, and seek to have the mind and attitudes of Christ, you WILL discover a rich life that is far greater than you can imagine.

Prayer:

Gracious Father, thank You for the majesty in every sunrise and every star. Thank You for the beauty of creation that draws me to You. I give You thanks in everything—for life itself, for Your sustaining hand, and most of all for the salvation You gave me so I could live in Your presence forever. Make me more like Jesus in every attitude and thought. Fill my mind with Your Word and my heart with Your love. Help me to overflow with gratitude to You. May the fruit of Your Spirit and the wisdom of Your Word be in me and dominate every area of my life so that when people see me—they see You! In the name of Jesus, Amen.
