Have You Ever Had God Quiet You With His Love?”

Yesterday, we ended the devotional with this beautiful promise of God:

“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” ‭‭

Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬

But how do we get in position for God to “quiet you by His love?”

I don’t think there is really one answer to this question, but I’d like to share this extraordinary experience the way it has happened to me.

For example, as our family continues to go through this deep valley together, God’s Spirit is miraculously bonding us together in His love—like an unbreakable steel band forged by fire. The circumstances have presented an uncertain and seemingly dim future. Our minds are easily clouded with worst case scenarios. It’s easy to allow doubt in God to grow. When doubt takes root for even a minute, it shoots up overnight just like the “devil weeds” [I don’t know their proper botanical name] that sprout in my flower beds. They are nearly impossible to pull up by the roots. I swear their roots attach overnight to the closest half-ton boulder. I’ve broken many a hoe trying to uproot them. Such is the nature of doubt in God. If it’s allowed to grow in our mind, it robs us of peace and requires nothing short of supernatural power to uproot it. Without God, we are left with only human solutions.

Doubt in God robs us of His peace and comfort.

Conversely, TRUST in God—brings us DEEPER into His presence. If we want God to comfort us, we must train our brain to seek Him FIRST. Sure, we can use common sense, medicine, and science but—if our human wisdom conflicts with God’s plan—we must be willing to follow Him. Even if it does not make sense! When we are constantly and consistently seeking God, we place ourselves in a place to be quieted by His love. To stay in this place, we must train ourselves to LIVE trusting GOD more than we trust ourselves.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He SHALL direct your paths. Do NOT be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.” ‭‭

Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-8‬ ‭‬‬https://bible.com/bible/114/pro.3.5-6.NKJV

Even if today looks like a wasteland, you can trust God to lead you to the promised land.

Let go of your own way, and turn your full attention to God. Ninety-five percent of God’s will for your life for today is found in His Word. Begin to do even a few of the things He asks, and HE WILL begin to direct your path! Are you anxious about the way forward? Here’s a short list I use to lead me back to that place where God quiets me by His love:

  1. Read and memorize His Word. “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalms 119:11
  2. Talk and listen to God. “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  3. Give thanks to God for everything—even the trouble, because it is merely a tool to glorify God. “In EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18‬
  4. Make opportunities to demonstrate God’s love by loving others. “Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind [and] love your neighbor as yourself.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:37-39‬

I promise you—more importantly, GOD promises you—that when you obey Him because you love Him, you will experience His supernatural presence. God’s is love; He will quiet you by His love. My dear friend, there is no one in your life—except God—who has stood behind their promises like He has. He loved us even when He knew it would cost Him everything.

There is no one you can trust more than God.

Trusting in God begins when you are born into his family through receiving the GIFT OF SALVATION. Then…when you train yourself to seek God first, He adds everything else you need—especially—love that quiets your soul.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.6.33.NKJV

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
