Do You Have Extraordinary Plans For Today?

planner emphasizing plans

I remember as a teenager having huge plans and constantly thinking of all the ways I could make them happen. It never, EVER occurred to me to ask God about the plans He had for me. Actually, truth be told, I was afraid to ask Him because I thought His plans would be boring and not nearly as exciting as mine.

Clearly, I had no clue about God’s goodness and wisdom.

Even now, many years later, after I’ve seen God do wondrous things in my life over and over again, I still struggle against Him when it comes to making my daily plans.

I still tend to go about my life, making MY plans, without any regard for the wisdom and direction my loving Father longs to give me. I plan—without Him—forgetting the frailty of my life. God’s Word reminds me that this is not a wise way to live.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (James‬ ‭4:13-15‬)

Think about your own plans for today.

Have you asked God whether they are HIS plans for you? Do you think you can make better plans for your life than HE can? As I asked myself these questions today, God radically changed my plans. He opened my eyes to see the eternal blessings my own plans were going to cause me to miss. I canceled my plans and made new plans—HIS plans. They were clearly HIS plans because I felt the path of peace open up in my heart. Thousands of years from now, what I did TODAY will be remembered because God’s works are eternal. What a great opportunity to be part of something that really matters—right??? God’s Word speaks wisdom beyond human understanding and His Spirit leads us in plans of everlasting significance.

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory.”

I Corinthians‬ ‭2:7‬

“The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms.’”

Deuteronomy‬ ‭33:27‬

TODAY matters! Our most significant accomplishments are what we do for the glory of eternal God. Our relationship with Him is critical to knowing His plan. Seek God FIRST. He will show you His PERFECT way!

Don’t settle for an ordinary life because—God has extraordinary plans for you!

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
