Be Who You Were Meant To Be!

When other people identify Christ-like characteristics in us, God’s Spirit leaps within our soul and we desire to be even more like Him. It refreshes us and encourages us to see ourselves as we were meant to be instead of who our enemies like to make us think we are

We need to encourage each other to become ALL that God made us to be!

Allow me to share with you a story about this from my own life. First, let me say that I thank God for each of my children and for the way God made them each such amazing adults despite my abject failures in my marriage which significantly derailed their childhood. I can’t change the past. But when I fell in love with God, He so greatly transformed me, that I know it was His amazing grace that allowed my children to see for the first time that—He was real in me. However, we all struggle with knowing who we are—even the greatest preacher does. So, while God calls me by my name, the enemy still calls me by my sin. The enemy always seeks to cloud my identity with— guilt and shame.

But then…the story…from the words of my daughter, Grace…

She wrote me a note that reminded me of who I really am:

“You have instilled the source of your sunshine into my heart, and it now flows out of me. People, patients, friends, and others have asked me ‘why are you so happy?’ While the superficial answer is that I have this incredible parent who loved me and taught me how to love, the deeper answer is ‘I have this incredible parent who taught me about God’s love.’ That love is one that never runs out, never is too busy, and is always present.”

Her words humbled me and reminded me that the person she described is the REAL me. I’m the one Jesus loves so much that He gave mercy, grace, forgiveness and an opportunity to live a life shining forth His love.

Ah, how we all need to hear the Holy Spirit’s affirmation through each other!

The greatest gift we can give is allowing God to show His love through us. We need to encourage each other to be love; as God is love. To be a source of God’s love is the highest calling because it is the best way for a hurting world to see God!  The Bible says:

“No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

1 John 4:12

Think of someone who has encouraged you to know God and to experience the great satisfaction of His presence. Let them know who they are in Christ—through your eyes. It will bless them. It will encourage them to be all they can be for Christ.

A good word is powerful and makes all the difference!
