How Is God’s Love Perfected In Us?

The manifestation of God’s love through our life is the best EVIDENCE that His love is being refined and perfected within us. “Love” is the evidence of God’s love transforming us. The Bible says:

“In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, NOT that we loved God, but that HE loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.”

1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭12

The perfection of God’s love within us first begins after we receive His gift of salvation. Being born again enables us to live a life that is united with Christ. Salvation is the beginning of a transformative inner process that must express itself outwardly. We begin to think and act more like Christ. Because Jesus embodies the light, His presence within us should radiate the benefits of that light through our actions and words. Among all the influences in the world, God’s love stands as the most powerful, possessing the ability to touch and transform hearts. Consequently, if we allow Christ’s love to dwell within us, its impact will inevitably be apparent to those in our midst.

Therefore, we must examine whether our lives truly reflect Christ’s love toward others. Is love the predominant characteristic that defines our Christian walk? In this regard, love, rather than our physical appearance, intellectual capacity, wealth, or social status, should be the foremost quality that others perceive in us. God’s love should be the most powerful part of our personality, presentation, and representation.

So, what is the key to manifesting God’s love?

Jesus said that if we love Him we will keep His commandments. (John 14:15) His commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves. We MUST prioritize our love for God. This pursuit presents a daily challenge that requires determination and commitment. Failure is inevitable, yet God never gives up on us so we should never give up on ourselves. Our life is too important! Each morning, we must rise, resolved to love God wholeheartedly by obeying Him and seeking His presence. One of my favorite morning prayers is giving God 100% of my time, 100% of my law practice, 100% of my love, 100% of my resources. Then I ask Him to help me not to take any of it back!

My friend, God’s love is perfected in us when we are passionate about loving Him—the way He loves us.
