Do People Describe You As Someone Who Is Alive With Purpose?

So many Christians slog through each day, exhausted and disenchanted with their life. The biggest anticipation of their day is a good dinner or a couple hours of entertainment in the evening. Or, maybe life is being lived just working for the weekend. It seems they are working hard just to attain whatever rush of pleasure that fades almost as quickly as they happened. I’ve been there…so many times!

We were created for so much more!

When we have a relationship with God, our daily life is filled with a higher purpose, a deeper joy, and a more profound wisdom than we ever imagined possible. How do we attain this fulfilling path which distinguishes us as being alive with purpose? God’s Word says:

“There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, for apart from HIM who can eat or who can have enjoyment? For to the one who pleases him, God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.”

(Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:24-26)

Our most satisfying and purposeful life is found by living in pleasing God—not self.

King Solomon, who wrote the book of Ecclesiastes, had immersed himself in nearly every pleasure he desired. He concluded—that pleasure without the ONE who created pleasure—was all vanity. But, Ah, my friend, when we desire to please God more than we desire anything else, we discover HE is our greatest pleasure. This should be no surprise! It goes back to our design. The Bible makes it clear that God created man in HIS image and for HIS glory. (Genesis 1:26-27; Isaiah 43:7) Thus, we find our greatest pleasure and purpose in HIM.

So, how do we live pleasing God?

It is by loving Him with all our heart, soul and mind! When we arise each day and give Him our whole heart, He gives us HIS joy, purpose, strength, and wisdom. God thought about the purpose for each one of us before the foundation of the world was laid. The Psalmist wrote:

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” ‭‭

Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‬‬

When the countenance of our soul manifests God’s presence, HIS glorious purpose is evidenced in all we say and do.
