I was with a client one morning and the Spirit led me to talk with her about whether she had ever received THE GIFT OF SALVATION. Well, when God’s Spirit floods in and takes over the conversation, I get very excited. The conversation begins to flow and the wisdom I speak is far beyond my own. I like it that way. God speaks His message much better than I do. What I did NOT realize… is the effect God’s Spirit has on my countenance. Throughout the conversation, this lady kept staring at me so intently that I wasn’t sure what to think. Then, at a brief pause in the conversation she suddenly exclaimed:
“Do you just wake up this way?!?“
I didn’t know what she was talking about, so I asked,
“What do you mean?”
She said,
“You glow like someone very young, and I feel such peace in your presence.”
Ahhh…now I understood what she was getting at, and so I immediately responded:
“No, I do not wake up this way. I spend over an hour…sometimes two…with God in the morning and HE fills me with HIS presence. If I’m glowing at my age then…it’s definitely—ALL God!”
[Now don’t get me wrong, there are mornings when I totally miss the mark and don’t glow with God’s presence, but—it’s definitely my daily GOAL!] 😝
I went on to explain to her that the glow and peaceful presence she was perceiving was God. ALL God. It’s because I intentionally made the time to be in God’s presence that morning.
My dear friend…
God’s presence is powerful.
He is ageless.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
He is wise and loving beyond human explanation.
When we spend time with God, we glow with the qualities of His Spirit…just like we talked about in Tuesday’s devotional. You see, if we are faking our relationship with God and just doing rituals without any desire to really know Him—we will NOT experience His presence. This is the failing God describes in Isaiah 58:1-10.
God must be our FIRST and GREATEST love. When we seek Him with a heart to make HIM the LORD of our life—no matter what the cost—then we are made beautiful—even if we’re old!
I love the Amplified version of this amazing passage!
“Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your healing (restoration, new life) will quickly spring forth; Your righteousness will go before you [leading you to peace and prosperity], The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away from your midst the yoke [of oppression], The finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly], and [every form of] wicked (sinful, unjust) speech, And if you offer yourself to [assist] the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday. And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your soul in scorched and dry places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”
Isaiah 58:8-11
You see, in order to glow with the LIGHT of God, we must DAILY renew our mind and soul in HIS presence! “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5) Remember Moses?
“Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.”
Exodus 34:34-35
The more we allow God’s light to shine through us, the more we glow for His glory!
