How To Have The Satisfaction And Freedom Of Healthy Relationships

Share

Wouldn’t you like to have more healthy relationships—the kind that bring you joy, satisfaction, and a sense of marvelous freedom???

It’s crazy how our culture makes us so driven to have the kind of relationships where we are the CENTER and FOCUS of some else’s life. But that kind of relationship NEVER lasts and—it ALWAYS ends in disaster.

Why is this???

There is not one human on the planet equipped to handle the pressure or responsibility of being the “center” of someone else’s life. If you are the center of someone else’s life, then you can be sure:

  • You will never meet their expectations;
  • You will never be enough to keep them enraptured; and,
  • You will become enslaved in trying to maintain the relationship.

After you are worn out and used up—they will desert you. When they leave, they often take part of your soul with them and —it takes a long time to get it back. They will be onto the next person they think they can get satisfaction by idolization. I’ve been on both sides of this equation.

Have you experienced this cycle???

This is the cycle of “love” that the world promises will give us satisfaction.

But nothing could be further from the truth! While it is DEFINITELY true that we ALL need to KNOW we are ABSOLUTELY and UNCONDITIONALLY loved, no human is capable of loving us in this extraordinary way. How do I know this? Because we were created with a deep need to be loved. While we definitely NEED to be loved this way; we, in an of ourselves, do not have what it takes to GIVE this kind of love. You can’t give away what you, yourself are in need of—right? That’s the common sense answer—right? But it’s also the Biblical answer. The Bible says that “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) The Bible NEVER says MAN is love.

God WILL satisfy your voracious need for love—100%.

God’s love-experience for us begins when we are born into His family through accepting Him as Lord and Savior of our life. That is when God downloads His Spirit into our spirit. It is then that we are ENABLED to possess love in excess of our great need. THEN—we don’t NEED to be the center of some else’s life because God is the center of ours; and HE gives us the greatest love we need—unconditional, deep, wide, overflowing and wondrous.

I love this prayer by Paul the Apostle and have made it my own so that each day I am reminded to be filled with God’s [love’s] presence:

“I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3:14-19‬)

When we know we are in the center of God’s love, and He that will never use us, abuse us, enslave us, or leave us—we are FREED to love others without expectation.

A rich love-life with God builds healthy, joyful and fully satisfying relationships with others.
