There Is No Gift Like The Present

Share

birthday-celebration

How many days in the last seven days did you get out of bed with an attitude of great joy and anticipation. I didn’t score so well. Why??? Well, several reasons. Sometimes, I’m just too busy adulting to experience the joy of a child. Or, I let the my day get overshadowed by my problems and other people’s drama. Or, I get worried about the future or get wrapped up regretting the past. Even after I have my wonderful time with God in the morning—if I don’t stay close to Him—I don’t enjoy the present like I should!

Oh, my dear friends, if you live each day without the GREATEST of expectations, it’s like missing your birthday!!!

GOD has great things planned for you today, but to experience them, you must learn to relish the present! Think about how much thought and care went into fashioning this day—just for you.

“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!”

Psalms‬ ‭139:16-17‬

If the God of all the universe gives us the gift of today, we should open each minute of it with great joy and anticipation. We aren’t promised tomorrow.

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118‬:24‬

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”

Proverbs 27‬:1

It matters not if the day ahead looks difficult, God’s presence within us gives us HIS perspective.

God is so good to give us today as His present to us. This isn’t just some cheap Dollar Store gift either. It is priceless. There will never be another one like it. It was made just for you. Unwrap it carefully and enjoy every part of it, because you will never have another one exactly like it! ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord. (Lamentations‬ ‭3:21-26‬)

God’s presence transforms us to live in joyful anticipation of the present.

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
