You Can Have A Home Filled With Precious And Pleasant Riches!

One of the most beautiful AirBnB’s we stayed in while traveling through the South Island of New Zealand had a spectacular view of Lake Tekapo. As I was delighting in the early morning view in the presence of my Creator and Redeemer, I read the following passage:

Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; for by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭3‬-‭6 ‭‬‬

Sitting there gazing at the view, I felt myself in God’s house. It is far greater than anything made by man. I imagined Him orchestrating the day. Ah, how much greater this beauty was magnified while basking in the presence of the Creator! How much less it would have been without His presence. Each reflection off the water and nuance of color from the sky reminded me—it all was created by Him and—it all belongs to Him. Like a magnificent painting reflects the artist; Creation inspires praise of my Savior.

You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ ‭‬‬

There was a time in my life, when I did not know how to enjoy creation in the presence of God. What a foolish waste! The Bible distinguishes the wise man from the foolish man based upon the level of their acknowledgment of God. In a nutshell:

The foolish man lives as if God does not exist.

The wise man allows God to affect every aspect of his life.

For many years after I was born again, I did not allow God’s presence to affect my everyday choices. I was a Christian in name only and I lived like God did not exist. God’s presence did not affect my—work, entertainment, family, thoughts, or—any significant part of my life. I went to church and did what I needed to in order to appear religious; but—He was not the great love of my life.

It took great tragedy for me to realize how much I needed God.

If you read my testimony, you will see how God used the wreck I’d made of my life to draw me to Him. Ah, my friend, there is no one who loves you like God! He gives each of us the opportunity to live by His guidance. Can you think of a wiser navigator than the one who created and sustains everything? God offers us the gift of His wisdom, but we must daily turn to Him with our whole heart. If you desire the great treasures of God’s wisdom, join us tomorrow for a deeper look into God’s Word.

There is no greater way to fill each moment with the greatest riches life has than to live in God’s wisdom!

  1. Thank you for the devotion, I feel like what you described sometimes about going through the motions I worship.
