It is crazy to me how the anger of so many people is boiling over because everyone seems so easily offended. People are overly-anxious and stressed-out so that even the smallest self-perceived threat sets them off.
Why is this happening to people in the midst of so much prosperity and freedom???
We have more resources at our fingertips than we’ve ever had in the history of the world, but yet—we are collectively more angry. This cloud of anger is being reflected in nearly all of our platforms of influence—schools, government, families, businesses, and—even some churches.
God’s Word has a simple explanation AND—a simple solution:
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!”
Galatians 5:13-15
The problem: When we use our great freedom to feed our fleshly desires—in the process we starve our soul; AND—starving people can be desperate.
We are workaholics so we can be shopaholics; yet…
..we rarely have enough.
We never really let our minds be still and know God; so…
…we rarely have peace.
We are slaves of the social media crowd and the “likes” on our life events are…
…never enough.
The solution: We must get off this crazy self-seeking merry-go-round life because—before we starve our soul to death!
We were created for REAL Love—God’s love. God’s love is a love that GIVES—not TAKES. This great liberty is fully realized and enjoyed when we learn to live selfless lives. “Self-less” means we think of ourselves—less. Selflessness is reflected in everything we say and do. This remarkable behavior only becomes possible when we have something better than ourselves to live for. God is better to us—than we are to ourselves.
We must feed our soul with the presence of God. Only HE can give us the kind of love we are seeking. His love is supernatural. He is the only One who loves perfectly. His love is so vastly unselfish that we can barely comprehend it. The Bible says:
“For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
(Romans 5:7-8)
Love is giving without an expectation of receiving. It’s what God does. It’s who He is. When we are filled with Him, He enables us to love like He does. We are not anxious. We are not angry. We don’t have to retaliate.
God’s love—makes our love—less about us.
“Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
II Corinthians 13:11
