When We Are Sunlight In The Storm

Sunlight in storm

Don’t you want to be the kind of person who brings peace and love to tough situations instead of bringing the tempest and making everyone around you worse off?

Remember though, you can’t share…what…you don’t have!

This world has enough darkness, confusion, and fear. People are hungry for peace, love and light. Aren’t you? Think for a moment about a ray of sunlight. It is directly connected to the sun; and the sun it is connecting to is…always ABOVE the storm. Hmmm……so, if we are directly connected to the SON of God, we, too, can shine through the darkness and storms! Wow!!! This should greatly motivate us to stay strongly connected to God! Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill CANNOT be hidden.”

(Matthew‬ ‭5:14‬)

Just as no storm can never reach as high as the sun and blot it out; no amount of darkness can EVER hide God’s light. If we are God’s child, and have His powerful light within us, the only way this light is dimmed, is if we allow the darkness inside

Ah, my dear friend, you cannot take darkness into your heart and expect to reflect God’s light!

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is NO darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do NOT practice the truth.”

‭‭I John‬ ‭1:5-6‬

If we want to shine in the darkness, we must be filled with the light. Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” ‭‭

John‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭‬‬

When we receive the GIFT OF SALVATION, Jesus, the light of the world, lives within us. But—for others to see His light, we must choose to not cover it with the darkness of the enemy. We must live in obedience to God instead of the slavery of sin. When we live in loving obedience, we are so strongly connected to God that we can’t help but shine!

All that flows from God, flows through us—love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, meekness, goodness, self-control, etc. Those around us are refreshed by the light of God’s presence.

When God’s presence is within us, the darkness MUST flee!

There will come a day when the darkness will be banished forever:

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.” ‭‭

Isaiah‬ ‭60:1-2, 19-20‬ ‭‬

Those who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior are promised eternity with Him.

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
