“For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16
If I were to count the hours I’ve wasted fretting over the future, it would be staggering. I’ve worried about how I’ll pay bills, what will happen with my health, whether someone I love will be saved, how my children will turn out, and even what will happen next in the crazy world around me. Those restless hours never gave me peace—they only drained me. God is teaching me to stop wasting my time in anxious speculation and instead use it for something infinitely better. How? By reminding me…
I don’t need to know the future when I know the One who is already present in the future.
When we are born again through receiving the gift of salvation, our spirit—once dead in sin—is made alive in Christ. (Ephesians 2:1) This miracle allows us to know God personally, not merely through logic or observation. As we discussed in the podcast about the three levels of knowing God, we are born with a knowledge of God, but an intimate relationship happens only after we are born again and build a relationship with Him. Relationship-building takes work. But—with God—it is so worth it! The apostle Paul explains beautifully:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard…but God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:9–10
And then there is the staggering truth: When we are born again, we are given the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16) This means we can begin to have God’s perspective and allow HIM to shape our thoughts.
That’s pretty unbelievable, isn’t it?
Scripture makes it clear exactly how we access His mind after we are born again:
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
Each day, as we open the Bible, pray, and obey what God reveals, we’re not just reading words on a page—we are drawing closer to the heart and mind of God Himself. And when He fills our thoughts, we live in the peace of His presence rather than the anxiety of the future.
Am I more focused on trying to predict my future—or on knowing God through His Word? The better I know Him, the less I will fear tomorrow’s bills, relationships, or other self-perceived uncertainties.
Daily Challenge
Take one specific worry about the future—your finances, your marriage, your health, or the salvation of a loved one—and write it down on a piece of paper. Then, beside it, write down a verse that reveals God’s character (for example, Philippians 4:19 for provision, Proverbs 3:5–6 for guidance, etc.) Each time the worry rises in your mind today, pray the verse back to God and thank Him for already being in control of that future outcome.
Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me the mind of Christ. Teach me to seek You daily in Scripture, not just to gain knowledge, but to draw closer to You in loving obedience. When worries about money, relationships, health, or loved ones weigh me down, renew my mind with Your truth. Help me to trust that You know what lies ahead, because you are already there. And help me to know that Your will is good, acceptable, and perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
