When people meet you, you may rest assured, they ARE reading the story that is written in your heart. Our “story” is who we are at our most basic level. It’s the theme of our life.
What’s YOUR story?
When people get to know you, is the dominate vibe they pick-up on—anxiety, bravado, self-sufficiency, crassness, bitterness, ambivalence, easily offended, proud, impatience, etc? OR—is your persona dominated by love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, humble confidence, supernatural wisdom, quiet strength, etc.?
Paul the Apostle made this remarkable statement—which—I had to read very slowly to really get:
“You are our epistle [letter] written in our hearts, known and read by all men; CLEARLY you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”
II Corinthians 3:2-3
The people he had discipled for Christ were–not only written into HIS story, but they were also CLEAR, EASY TO READ letters ABOUT CHRIST—for the entire world to read.
Is your life CLEARLY about Christ?
Or, is your life a mystery-mash of inconsistencies because you’re caught between trying to be accepted by the world and throwing in a little Jesus on the side to keep mamma happy? Do you go to church but—live like the world the rest of the week? Or, do you NOT go to church because—you think you can pick and choose from the commandments of God? If God is your LORD, then His Word is not a buffet line—to pick and choose what you want to follow based upon your likes and dislikes.
If God is LORD of our life—then EVERYTHING He says matters and it shows.
My dear friend, if your story is confusing to others because you SAY you are a Christian, but what you DO tells a completely different story—then you are TOTALLY missing out on your BEST LIFE!!!
When we truly love Christ with all our heart, our story is clear and credible. It is refreshing. It draws people in like a warm fire on a cold night—not to us—but to Christ. What an amazing privilege God has given us to belong to Him. We are in an elite army fighting against evil to rescue the perishing. We have the ultimate Commander. Through salvation, Jesus has enabled us to write a story of VICTORY.
