Do you KNOW that you can run the race of life—through storms, over mountains, in darkness, and through enemy territory—with absolute confidence?
Yep—but how you run depends on your level of confidence.
We GAIN confidence from: 1. Someone or something else; 2. Experience; and, 3. knowledge. But, we LOSE confidence when we get it from the wrong source, have bad experiences, or get bad advice—right? So, if we want to have the GREATEST CONFIDENCE—we need to make sure we have the best source!!!
What is your BEST and most RELIABLE source of confidence?
Does that source ever fail you? If so, does the failure make you wonder if there is a better source?
There have been times in my life when I’ve had my confidence ripped to shreds. I was afraid. I felt lost. It was painful. It made me really, really consider what I was allowing to give me a my greatest sense of confidence. Believe it or not—it was not more money, success, or a better-looking body that has given me the confidence I have today.
My greatest confidence comes from knowing how well I am loved by God.
If you’re a dude, you may be thinking that sounds like a “girl-thing,” but it’s not. Love was the only force on earth courageous enough and capable of defeating death. Love has a name and His name is “God.” (1 John 4:8) When living in His presence becomes our primary resource for life, His love is “perfected” in us and we are not afraid. The Bible says:
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
I John 4:17-18
You want to run the race of life with SUPREME confidence? Then live seeking God with your whole heart. The Bible calls it “fear” of God—which means you respect Him so much that you’d almost rather die than lose the sense of His presence. God’s presence gives us “strong confidence.”
“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.”14:26)
(Proverbs
“There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear.”
1 John 4:17a
