“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, aand by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11
“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all the depths; fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word; mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars; beasts and all cattle; creeping things and flying fowl; kings of the earth and all peoples; princes and all judges of the earth; both young men and maidens; old men and children. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
And He has exalted the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints—of the children of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise the Lord!” Psalms 148:1-14
The passage from Revelation is praise of God from His throne room, and the verses from Psalms are praise from every created thing on earth. All of Heaven and earth praise God!
Why is praising God so good for us?
Well, we don’t praise someone or something unless we are aware that it is praiseworthy, right? The other day I was praising my vehicle that still runs like a dream even after 240,000 miles! As I was praising my SUV, it made me thankful. Thankfulness motivates us to make healthy decisions—like not spending $60,000 on a new vehicle when the old one runs fine!
Now, this may seem like a silly example; however, it reflects real life.
When we are praising God for all He does, it is because we have developed the right view of Him. Having the right view of God gives us the right view of ourselves. Having the right view of ourselves gives us an accurate picture of what we actually need. We realize what we need most—more than a new car, new house, more money, more clothes, a better job, more workout time, more entertainment or distraction—is to be in the presence of God!
Developing a mindset of praising God improves every aspect of our life. He becomes the center of everything we think about, talk about, and do—and we trust Him to run our lives.
God runs our life better than we could ever imagine because His plans are better than ours!
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
