Do you ever wake up feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, afraid, and completely unsure of how to get control of your life, which seems far too busy and way too full of huge obstacles? The longer you lay thinking about all the problems, the more you become anxious and full of despair, right? When I wake up this way, from my bed I whisper
“God I need You because I just can’t do this anymore.”
I remember the first time I did this it was almost as if I heard God say out loud:
“It’s about time you figured that out, my dear.”
God suddenly made it clear WHY my life was so out of control. WHY? Because I was in control. The beautiful thing about God is that He gives us the choice about whether to put Him in control—or not. When we give the reins of our life totally and completely to God—He does a much better job with our life than we do. But we’ve got to be born again and learn how to live knowing Him. In this process of getting to know Him, we learn the wisdom of trusting Him with every part of our life.
To trust our precious life to anyone less than God will always lead us to despair and fear. We tend to be much like the Israelites, who were deceived by the popular influences of the day which drew them away from trusting in God’s care. But God did NOT, and does NOT—abandon any of His children. He told Israel:
“After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with ALL YOUR HEART. I WILL be found by you, says the LORD, and I WILL bring you back from your captivity.”
Jeremiah 29:10-13
No matter how broken we are, when we surrender every part of our life to God and repent, He will pick up the pieces. That morning, as I surrendered to Him, I poured out my failures, my insecurities, my fears, and all the negativity—to Him. In exchange, He gave me peace. He began to help me see a plan and a purpose—even through the darkness. It was the mind of Christ directing me in HIS ways.
God is so wise, merciful, and loving.
He WANTS to give us all the wisdom and guidance He has stored up for us. When we feel overwhelmed, we must seek Him. This often means completely changing the way we think, the way we talk, the people we hang out with, the information we allow into our mind, and maybe even our job! Our will must become HIS WILL because when we live His way, He will manifest the clarity that is found within His powerful righteousness!
“I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him.”
“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah”
[And God said:] “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
Psalms 32:5-8
I promise you, no one does your life better than God!
