God’s Path: The Path Of Success

The more I learn to trust God—even when it doesn’t make sense—the more I get to experience the path of success. His plans are always better than mine and—they always succeed. I know I’ve used this example before, but it’s such a clear testimony of GOD’s success in my life that it is worth repeating.

After over 20 years of practicing law, God made it clear that He wanted me to quit practicing in an area of law that was time-consuming and emotionally draining. I also resisted because it was roughly seventy-five percent of my income. After all, how would I pay the bills? [Like God couldn’t handle the bills!] After fighting God for over two years, I gave up. To be sure, the first three years weren’t a financial bed of roses, but it was full of unparalleled adventures I wouldn’t trade for any amount of money! God re-ordered my loves and showed me that loving obedience and complete dependence upon His plan is the path to real success!

So…what was the REAL success I discovered—if it wasn’t making more money?

Well, I had more time for what was important. I had more time for eternal things. I spent more time studying and meditating on God’s Word. I had deep and meaningful private prayer and intentional prayer with others. I spent more time ministering to clients in my office as prompted by The Holy Spirit instead of being driven by an insane schedule. I was part of people being led to receive Christ as their Savior. I had more time to disciple the people who received the gift of salvation. I had time to encourage Christians who were in despair. I had more time to write and record music. I had more time to work on devotionals—like the one you’re reading today.

“Success” is allowing God to write the wondrous story He carefully planned for you from before the beginning of time!

God has a great plan for each person to have eternal success! To be successful, we must be living in HIS thoughts [as set forth in His Word] and HIS ways. His Word reminds us that His purpose for us==WILL succeed:

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater…

…so shall My WORD be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it SHALL accomplish what I please, and it SHALL prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬-‭11‬ ‭

How incredible, that through Jesus, we can walk in God’s unfathomable ways and superior wisdom. As we walk in this awesome adventure called “life,” we should be passionate about living in God’s unfailing plan of success. Can you imagine any success that is greater than God’s plan? Don’t you want to be part of it? Seek Him with all your heart and you will find it.

At the end of my life, I want to look back and see the footprints of God everywhere I’ve been.

  1. Thanks for the encouragement found in this article. I am a retired 84 years old widow who wish to learn how to stay focused on the Word of God (being pulled in too many directions by other people, including ministry).
