Walking in the light of God’s presence is the single most important factor in making each day amazing! If you had told me this before I began experiencing God’s presence I would have been somewhat skeptical. In fact, unless I’d really seen what God looks like—in YOUR life, I may have dismissed you as a Jesus freak who wasn’t connected to reality. I would have surmised—you just don’t really live in the grind of life.
You may be like me and ask yourself:
What has God got to do with my next business deal or my job?
What has God got to do with my vacation or my free time?
What has God got to do with running my kids around all day?
While “everything” may not seem like a helpful answer; it is definitely true! You see God does EVERYTHING BETTER THAN WE DO! (Yes, I’m shouting out this glorious truth!) From the time I wake up in the morning to the time I lay my head down at night, IF I let God guide my life—He does it much better than I do.
But—the challenge is to DO it!
Because let’s face it, if you’re like me, there are some mornings—like this morning, for instance—when I feel discouraged and I just don’t feel like being in the grind. I don’t have the energy or the desire to seek God. In fact, I don’t even feel like writing this devotional. But God knows this AND miracle of miracles—HE desires ME.
To know you are desired by God is an unspeakably great delight.
God desires ALL of His children. The falling off of desire, which happens in human relationships…is a failing on our part of the relationship—not God’s. We are constantly under attack by our enemies…the devil, the flesh and the world. God knows this. When we also grasp this, we can pray “God help me desire You.” This is the prayer of an honest heart. Sometimes, it’s the only prayer I can muster. It reminds me of when my children were small and they would say, “Mommy hold me.” I would move heaven and earth to take them in my arms! God desires us even more than we desire our children. And this prayer locks us into His arms so we can reset.
You see, when we begin to know God, we begin to know ourselves as HE does. We experience the amazing satisfaction, joy, peace, love, strength, and wisdom of His presence. We love who He made us. Like a child coming of age, we spread our wings and fly on the wisdom, love, and power that our Heavenly Father spent years Implanting into us. These words of Isaiah become reality to us and feed our desire to be even deeper in His presence:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”
Isaiah 26:3-4
Being close to God releases…
my fear about what others think;
my fear of the unknown;
my shame of my past; and
my anxiety about my future.
Today, God’s plan for me (and you)—is perfect!
