“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
As God is directing me to live my life more fully in His will, I can hardly believe the miraculous events unfolding all around me. He is writing a beautiful, wondrous story with my life. And as a bonus—I am now more full of joy and satisfaction than I ever was when I was doing life my own way!
For years, I resisted God’s will because I honestly thought I could manage my life better than He could. But wow—was I wrong. If I had just believed God’s Word, I would have learned this lesson much sooner. His thoughts and ways ARE far above mine. Isaiah 55:9
When we receive the gift of salvation, we become the workmanship of God—and begin living in His beautiful, handcrafted design. And—He has already prepared good works for us to accomplish. Isn’t that incredible? The God of all creation has a wonderful plan just for you. Aren’t you even a little curious to discover it?
When you live in God’s plan, it’s unmistakably wonderful.
So how do we step into this amazing life? Let’s go back to the Word of God:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
If we want to find God’s plan, we must want Him more than we want anything else. We must pray and ask Him to constantly refocus our thoughts and change our desires. We must learn of God’s goodness, because His goodness pulls us into His presence.
When we spend time in His presence, He changes us—He transforms our desires. He gives us a higher purpose—His purpose. Suddenly, we see opportunities we never would have noticed on our own. He takes us on adventures we never could have planned or accomplished without Him.
When we surrender to God and allow Him to reshape everything about us, we discover a life greater than anything we could have imagined. I could tell you story after story about the experiences I would have missed had God not been in the driver’s seat of my life. But, my friend, we ALL must struggle against the desire to drive our own life. This requires us to feed our soul and starve our flesh. [I don’t mean don’t eat food”—I mean the desires that violate God’s Word.]
The more we yield our life to God, the more we WANT Him to be in control. Why? Because then we SEE that God does our life better than we do.
Reflection Thought
Living life on your own terms may seem appealing, but trusting God with your whole life will take you places you could never reach on your own.
Prayer
Father God, thank You for having a plan for me that is far better than anything I could design for myself. Please forgive me for the times I have stubbornly gone my own way, believing I knew best. Help me to surrender fully to Your will and to trust that You are writing a beautiful story with my life. Teach me to love You more than I love my own plans. Let my life bring You glory as I walk in the miraculous works You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
