From Exhausted to Energized: God’s Presence

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9a

Some days, I wake up exhausted. My body feels heavy. My heart is weighed down by life—problems, people, lies, and the relentless bombardment of evil in this world. On those days, I just want to pull the covers over my head and hide. My first prayer is “Help me God–I’ve got nothing!”

It never ceases to amaze me—when I begin talking to God and then get out of bed and begin reading His Word, something shifts. I feel the energy of His presence wrapping around me like the first good morning hug from someone who loves me. It’s all-enveloping. Warm. Comforting. It’s the unmistakable sense of being cherished, strengthened, and empowered.

This is what God does. This is what His love does. This is the gift of His presence.

The presence of God gives us love, light, strength, wisdom, and the energy that makes life worth living.

How Does This Happen?

It all starts with a relationship. We must be born again! And then, like babies, we must engage in intentional spiritual growth.

We cannot experience the power of God’s presence until we first belong to Him. Jesus said:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

Being born again is not about practicing religion—it’s about becoming one of His children. It is through salvation that we enter into a relationship where we can know His heart and experience His presence.

But it cannot stop there. God is not looking for occasional visitors. He’s looking for people whose hearts are fully surrendered to Him—people who pursue Him, trust Him, and prioritize His glory above everything else.

When we are loyal to God—more loyal to Him than to our family, job, friends, comfort, or possessions—He strengthens us in every area of our life.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8

When we trust God with all our heart, He gives us direction, and strength. His presence becomes the very energy that revives our spirit and empowers our body.

Isn’t it strange that we trust God to keep the sun, moon, and stars in their place? We trust Him to hold the earth in orbit. These are monumental tasks. If God can sustain the entire universe, surely He can handle our daily problems, can’t He? And yet, when financial pressures mount, when relationships crumble, when sickness strikes, we so quickly doubt. We scramble for control instead of resting in the God who holds the galaxies in His hand.

Thus, the Bible commands us–for our own good–to:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

When we really know God, it’s a no-brainer to really trust Him. His presence brings a peace that our logic cannot explain. His nearness infuses us with a supernatural energy that lifts us out of weariness. Jesus entreated us:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

God’s presence is the ultimate soul energy. His yoke is not heavy; it is freeing. When we walk with Him closely, He lifts the burdens we were never meant to carry alone.

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

God’s presence is your soul’s greatest source of energy.

Reflection Thought

Seek the presence of God. His nearness will energize your spirit, refresh your soul, and empower you to seize and conquer the day!

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of Your presence. You are the energy my soul needs. On the days I feel weighed down and worn out, remind me to run to You instead of hiding from life. Fill me with Your strength, Your peace, and Your joy. Teach me to pursue You above all else. I surrender my heart, my worries, and my life to You. Help me to trust You fully, knowing that You hold the power to sustain me through every challenge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
