Ah, doesn’t every heart long to experience everlasting love that embraces us—flaws and all?
We certainly do! BUT—the enemy has convinced us that we WON’T find the BEST love from God. So we look for apocalyptic love in other imperfect humans. WAIT—before you disagree—think about WHERE you’ve spent most of your time passionately seeking the great love you crave. I know if I tallied up the time I’ve spent on my appearance and health in order to look good, as well trying to find (or keep) love with a man—it’s going to be much more time than what I’ve spent pursuing a relationship with GOD!
But as my relationship with God grows, I find there is no greater love. There is no one I’d rather wake up or go to sleep with. There is no one I’d rather spend the day with. There is no one I’d rather talk to about my day or share my problems with. Sure, I’d love to be with a man who has the same relationship with God—but not if it means compromising my relationship with God.
If you want to experience GOD’s love in a relationship—look for someone who is filled with His presence.
Submitting my heart to God is the most loving thing I do for myself. It is only through sweet surrender to His perfection that we enter into His perfect love.
God IS love. (I John 4:8)
God MAKES the deepest love our heart has ever desired. (Ephesians 3:18)
The Bible is God’s love letter to us; it captures our heart and—we fall into His supernatural love.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
Jeremiah 31:3
When we RESPOND to God’s love by submitting ourselves to His Word, we begin to glimpse the magnitude of the love of Christ. Examine how Paul prayed for the Ephesians:
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to GRASP how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:16-19
If you want to fall into everlasting love, look no further than God—Who IS love and CREATED love.
