Do You Want To Have The Greatest Desires Of Your Heart?

Share

Desires of your heart

God gives His children this amazing promise:

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He WILL give you the desires of your heart.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4‬

Given this promise, ask yourself which of the two statements best describes the level of delight you are experiencing in your life:

At the end of each day you don’t believe that I’ve accomplished enough. You don’t feel completely satisfied with what you have or who you are. Your relationships never seem adequate. Your sleep is not restful [not because of a health problem] but because you have so much to do and so much pressure to get it all done. You are anxious about your future. You must distract yourself with social activities or entertainment in order to find respite…

OR,

At the end of each day, you are completely satisfied. You are at peace—even when things are tough. Your sleep is sweet. Your heart is full if you’re alone. You know you are never alone.

The song “Never Alone” by Kimberly Faith

While I get it—we live in a fallen world and our desires are often disrupted by the plethora of evil and chaos that dominate our life. But, can evil thwart this promise of God? I mean, amidst our troubles, the promise of God, Who created us and wants to give us “the desires of our heart” might seem too good to be true—right?

Does it seem impossible to you that you could ever find complete delight—here and now?

If you want to discover that God is, indeed, serious about giving you great delight, then FIRST ask yourself WHERE you THINK you will find your greatest delight. Is it in holding that new grand baby? Is it anticipating your next “first kiss?” Is it in having that dream home, taking an epic vacation, or getting the perfect job? Now—think of this—doesn’t the delight of the things you enjoy here on earth make you just a little curious about the magnificent God Who creates such wonderful things for you to enjoy?

God is the Creator of all of our delights; and when we learn to delight in His presence, we possess the foundation for satisfying our greatest desire!

We were created to delight in GOD. But it is impossible to delight in someone you don’t know. To find the source of our greatest delight, we must first KNOW God. He is the fountain from which all of our purest desires are fed. He captivates, excites, and thrills our soul. Ah, my friend, open your heart to God and surrender this day to Him. Give Him 100% of yourself. Immerse yourself in His Word. Talk with Him. He will make Himself known to you and you WILL be satisfied!

Only your Creator can satisfy your deepest longings!

If you choose to delight in God, He will give you the greatest desires of your heart because your heart’s desires will be purified by His presence. God will always provide far above and beyond your expectations. Jesus promised:

“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:13-14‬ ‭‬‬

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
