Do You Know The Most Remarkable You?

What makes a person remarkable? What gets them in touch with their authentic selves? The ongoing political battles surrounding health care for children who identify as a different gender from their biological sex raise profound questions about the nature of truth. What serves as the foundation for their truth, which leads them to perceive their authentic selves as distinct from the DNA present in nearly every cell of their bodies?

According to Harvard Law Review, children should be allowed to live according to their own definition of themselves and their own world view:

“Ultimately, ‘protecting’ trans youth requires allowing them to access medical care that permits them to live according to their own definitions of themselves, rather than the definitions ascribed to them by politicians whose goal is not protection, but suppression of children whose identities threaten their worldview.”

134 Harv. L. Rev. 2163

Similar to children, adults also form a strong sense of identity based on sources present in their environment. However, when it comes to understanding who we truly are, what source of truth can we unquestionably rely upon? Truth serves as the fundamental basis for the decisions we make every day. If truth is solely based on our individual feelings and lacks a standard beyond ourselves, it becomes ever-changing, causing our self-perception to fluctuate to extremes.

Such a prospect can be deeply unsettling.

This raises an important question: What if we approached scientific truth in the same way? To illustrate, let’s consider Newton’s Third Law of physics:

“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

For instance, when you sit in a chair, you exert a downward force on it, and the chair pushes back with an upward force to keep you from falling. If this law weren’t always true, you would hesitate to ever sit with confidence. Similarly, when clapping your hands, you gauge the force you use based upon the predictable reaction in Newton’s law. However, what if the reaction was randomly unequal to the force exerted and resulted in random injury?

Scientists assert these laws to be true and reliable, allowing us to make consistent decisions about our lives. If these truths were to randomly change, life would become utterly chaotic and unsettling. What source is your truth based upon for life decisions—especially knowing who you are? According to God’s Word, He designed the physical world in a way that teaches us about the more important spiritual world. Humans are designed with a body, soul, and spirit. The physical part of us communicates with the physical world and the spiritual part of us was created to communicate with God.

God created us to know Him and thus, to know the truly remarkable individual He made in each of us.

When we are born again, our spirit and soul are made alive and able to communicate with God. The Bible not only reveals who God is but also represents HIS absolute truth. Jesus said, “I am the truth.” (John 14:6) If we want to know the truth about ourselves, God longs to reveal it. He desires a deep and abiding relationship with each of us.

“All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.” ‭‭‬‬

Psalms‬ ‭25‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” ‭‭

Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬-‭17‬
